Torrey Smith ruled out and Friday notes

This the healthiest TB has been on the D-line all year.

JPP - Vea - McCoy - Curry will all start and play for the first time all year.

We need to keep Cam clean and we can exploit that awful secondary.   I really wish that McCoy would miss another week.  This is as good of a D-line as we've played all year.

Weakest secondary in the NFL

Potentially strong DL and healthy for the first time this year

Hmmmm, wonder what the odds that Rivera's gameplan will featute a heavy dosage of the run and try to beat their strength vs their weakness

I'd keep him rested through February.

He needs to do the good guy veteran move and take the decision out of the coaches hands and tell Rivera that Moore and Samuel need to play more and that he is ok with coming off the bench when they need a rest.

I'd say keep him rested through the Pittsburgh game and the 10 day "mini-bye" that follows. Let's get everyone 100% for the stretch run, folks have been down on Torrey but he has a few more clutch plays in him before this season is done.

Agreed and hopefully in the meantime the coaches build up enough confidence in the youngins that we can really fire on all cylinders in the playoffs

    • The Bucs waived shilo sanders after he got ejected.
    • I'm just tired of ppl saying he's so accurate and then have to see recievers slow down to recieve the ball, ruining any chance at YAC
    • Some people will really look at stuff like this and say "no more excuses" but then make excuses to try and explain away the validity of big-time throws. 🙃   Back on topic though, as I mentioned in the other AT thread earlier, I hope that the team is still exploring the deal. If the Vikings want the Panthers to take on some of the salary, then it had better be at worst a 4th-round pick (though I imagine Dan angling for a 3rd). If they're willing to take on all of it, then maybe at worst a 5th. Tough pill to swallow, giving up a 4th for a 35yr old WR, but if MIN believes they can have similar success behind McCarthy then it could be a smart deal for them. Hell, if AT has any gas in the tank and gives them a 1yr sweetheart deal to close out at home, even better for Minnesota. Yea, Bryce loses his best and most reliable WR. Hunter Renfrow though isn't what I would call a huge step down though (if he's as advertised throughout camp), and it gives more reps to TMac + XL + Coker. This season is all about continued development and answering some of the looming questions (Is Bryce the guy? Is Evero the DC going fwd? How do the young WRs develop? How long does it take this defense to bounce back from being historically awful?).
