Keyvon Seymour as a Possibility to Return From IR?

I will say first off, I don't know if there has been talks in the building about it, or about his health with whatever was wrong with his shoulder, but as we talk and see threads about the return of Matt Kalil and Daryl Williams (which Admittedly won't happen due to his surgery), I got to thinking and looked back at our IR list and got to wondering about him.

Before you snap at the idea of bringing him in because he was terrible, I agree that he's not great, but hear me out.  Right now We struggle mightily at the bottom of the roster for dept at Corner.  Corn isn't getting a jersey on gamedays which I personally think is a travesty, but we need to have more than 3 corners active on Sundays and would not be upset having more than 4 on our active 53.  I also would ONLY want him as depth, as someone that can come in and give one of our corners a break because it seems they're getting winded by the 4th quarter having NO relief.

One other point, players designated to return have to wait 8 weeks before they return, and presuming Matt Kalil is one, we have 1 free one available.  Also presumably any injury we have right now would be rusty and coming back from injury for a playoff game from this point forward making it all but pointless to hold onto these designations going forward.

So, IF his injury allows, should we consider bringing him back to provide us some extra secondary depth for the stretch run?

I still can't believe we were geared to go into the season with him as a starter.

Agreed, I'm so glad Donte took that bull by the horns.  FWIW, this wouldn't be even a discussion if Cockrell hadn't gotten injured.  He looked pretty good in preseason.  Imagine a decent #2 in cockrell and Donte blanketing everything that moves in the slot.

Outside of Kalil and Darryl Williams (who pretty much everyone says is not coming back this year) there's not exactly a lot to write home about on IR right now.

Fans of Elijah Hood may flame me for that statement but I'd counter that 1) we don't know how he's doing in rehab and 2) if we're only going to use CJ Anderson sparingly, what would it benefit to bring up another runningback?

I wouldn't write home about Kalil. Or maybe I would, but mom wouldn't like what I had to say

We put Seymour on IR right before final 53 cuts. Therefore, he is not a candidate to come back.

This is correct. I think there are only 4 players eligible to come off IR this season.  Kalil this week, Williams next week, Searcy the week after, and Norris sometime in December.
