Yes. Because I understand that’s not how things work.

are you best friends with hurney or something?? the guy is a terrible GM.. most people on here will agree with that.. There is no reason any of us can find for releasing CJ who clearly is the best option we have if CMC goes down.

Am I defending Hurney or am I saying the idea that he made a move like this all by himself, like you’ve suggested, is completely wrong?

Biggest case of River dog house I think ever. Extreme case.

I got to wonder if this isn't the case.  He apparently pissed someone off.  There is NO reason that the guy should have gotten this treatment.  As said multiple times on this thread, if CMC goes down we are going to be screwed royally at the RB position.

I would have to believe that CJ forced it. Not sure I blame him if he did whatever it took to get out of here. He could have played a little more but it still wasn’t going to be much. Or enough to show something and get a bigger contract.

Still was a smart signing by Hurney. Don’t blame him one bit. He was a steal at that price and our situation.

Just didn’t work like everyone thought it would. It’s not like CAP can’t handle 3-5 touches per game.

CJ is clearly the better runner than CAP is..

That all assumes McCaffrey keeps up his current production and doesn't get injured.

Anderson was definitely quality depth if something went wrong. I just can't see a good rationale for letting go of someone like that.

If we're being honest, he was our 6th or 7th best option on offense. I don't know how we get him the extra snaps it takes for him to be effective without taking them away from CMC, Samuel, DJ Moore, Olsen, Cam, etc.

I wish things worked out differently, but he wasn't a difference maker for us and our offense works the same with our without him.

I understand and share the frustration of folks who wish we didn't let him just walk mid-season with no compensation, but makes me think there's something going on we weren't privy too. I hope so, at least.

The official reason being given basically boils down to "with McCaffrey, we just didn't need him".

So...We don't need depth at an important spot?

I just can’t buy that. He has to get picked up off waivers or we just eat the rest of his salary. And it’s only about 350K. To throw away insurance for that. Even Hurney can’t be that dense.

He just put out a statement saying he released him coz we dont need him since CMC is god and will never get injured.. read it.

Roaring Riot has confirmed that he didn't request or demand it.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
