Panthers claimed RB Kenjon Barner, who's back for a third stint in Carolina. Corresponding move is waiving CB Josh Hawkins.

I like this move...somebody in the FO is watching the huddle.  :shades:

CJ was/is an average back with a big ego/mouth.  Barner is a better fit atp.

Can we at least be real here. CJ was a 1,000 yard rusher. That is not average. Also, did anyone hear him complain? There were plenty of tweets on how well he was handling this situation.

Where do folks get this stuff?

No, the Broncos released him, he isn’t a dynamic player.  I will leave it there.  I don’t mind releasing him.

For me...Barner is a much better fit and Cadet can hopefully help STs.  CJ just doesn’t fit.

I said fit..fit...read man

Maybe given how our coaching staff is doing things now. The overall result depth-wise is still a downgrade though.

Mind you, I won't be surprised if Barner is activated over Cameron Artis-Payne.  Barner can do special teams.  CAP's never shown up there.

Of course if that happens, then it's a reversal from saying that Anderson was cut so we could "take an honest look" at CAP.

(either that or the "honest look" took less than 24 hours to complete)

Hmm...I think CAP and CJ are very similar.  CAP doesn’t fit but is a nice backup in an emergency.

Barner is a yo-yo player.  He generally gets signed somewhere for a few weeks then he's gone.

I'm not even sure he's completed a full season with one team.

Was on the Super Bowl champs roster last year...that can’t hurt.  I just like Barner for us right now.  CJ didn’t fit.

    • 31st rushing D and 8 carries by Rico is coaching.  Rico is easily the best offensive weapon right now and it’s not really close.  *literally everyone knows Dalton is washed, horrible and shouldn’t even be a backup QB.   Drive 1? ZERO carries.  Coaching.  Drive 2 - Rico was playing great.   Did Canales lean into that or go for “balance”? Coaching. Drive 3 - ZERO carries.  Coaching  Drive 4 - 1 carry and opted for Jimmy Horn gadget rush (you can’t stick  with the Horn repetitive gadget runs each week and that’s not a better idea than getting Rico going)  Drive 5 - basically Dalton heavy as the half expired.  I don’t need to watch a game to know it’s coaching.  The gameplan wasn’t about setting Rico up to go off on a trash rush D.  It was bullshit harmony balance of the rush and the pass and making Hubbard feel good.
    • In the locker room after the Dallas game, multiple  players said FEED him when Canales mentioned Rico stats. That already made me think even the locker room wouldn't care if Rico got the touches rn. This is on Canales indeed and I agree n the Qb take.  We aren't winning  bc of Bryce  but he has been managing it. Had the Jets had Qb aptitude,  we could've probably  lost that game too. All they would've needed is 14 points. Regardless, we got a team  that's being built up and that position needs an overhaul.
    • I think he was trying to mimic the Lions with Montgomery and Gibbs. They are just more of the exception to the rule and Brooks was too much of a gamble to be a Gibbs type player. The Lions also didn’t sign Montgomery and draft Gibbs until their offense was nearly set. It was more of a luxury take the offense to the next level type of deal.
