Eric Reid

I know there are some Reid nut huggers on here.  But he is never in position...ever.  He stands in the middle of the field and never breaks early enough to the WR making the play.  He doesn’t watch the eyes of the QB and seems to lack ball skills.

his two picks?  Both bad overthrows with a receiver no where around...to the middle of the field where Reid is always standing, stuck in concrete.  It’s no coincidence that our defense got even worse when Reid stepped in, and has not progressed since.  I understand that Colin Jones isn’t that good...but he’s not this bad.

So you're prepared to make the same comments about Luke?   He's pretty much been exactly what you're complaining about Reid, all year.

Sounds like Luke to me.

He's not great, but signing him was the right call. He's absolutely better than anyone on the roster behind him. The main problem with Reid is that the league has simply evolved past old school in the box big hitting safeties. You gotta be able to cover at the safety position in today's NFL because they've essentially outlawed running around and just laying people out. Reid would've been a much better player if he'd been born 20 years earlier.

OP is a fuging idot. Reid has been one of our best players. I can't even count the number touchdown saving tackles he's made after our front seven misses multiple opportunities to bring down a ball carrier. The problems with this defense (and team overall) are all in the trenches. We're missing tackles at the point of attack and not getting to the QB enough. Thank god for Eric Reid.

Luke has been guessing wrong and been out of position all year long lol.  Him leaving his run fit multiple times today got us gashed for big runs.  I saw Reid made one bad missed tackle today, and that was it.  If you're being honest, Luke has been a much bigger problem.  Actually, the LB corps in general, along with the front 4 has been poo, and that's likely what will cause this team to fall out of playoff contention.

On a day where a RB averaged over 8 ypc on us, we couldn't get pressure, James Bradberry was morphed into Kenny Golladay's bitch, Funchess decided to be Funchess and drop every fuging meaningful pass, and Gano couldn't hit water from the middle of the fuging ocean, you decide to single out Eric Reid?  Lol.  Just lol.

    • Yeah one big factor has been he is surprisingly quite durable. But the reality of that aspect is much of it boils down to plain dumb luck more often than not. Big guys get hurt smaller guys get hurt it happens across the league to anyone to varying degrees. The issue is we are staring down the barrel of a possible top 10 QB salary and Bryce Young is one of the least physically gifted starters in the league. That is not a shot at him it is simply a rational acknowledgment of circumstances. There is a legitimate question to be asked if his window as a starter in this league is smaller as a result because what is going to happen when those hits that he has previously popped right back up from with a smile on his face begin to accumulate as they do for every player that has been in this league? These are just things to consider.
    • This game is a must-win for both teams I feel. For the Canes, you don’t want to go back to Vegas and put them in front of their home crowd with a chance to close out the series. For Vegas, if you drop this game your only chance is to win 2 straight and similarly have to contend with an energized Canes home crowd if you get to a game 7.
