Who is least interested in Funchess on this play?

Funchess does not need to be back near Charlotte next season. 1 catch vs a depleted Tampa’s secondary?

Think we traded that wrong tall slow WR.

I agree, but think both tall slow WRs need to be elsewhere.

Coaching--Left side of field: where is the accountability?  Jogging?  Is this a conditioning issue?

Right side of the field: Colliding in the end zone?  Really?  Is this a teaching issue?

This play alone should be all Tepper needs to fire RR--pathetic.

Somebody must have run the wrong route?

:fear: Football is all they do--they have been learning the plays for 6 months.  They can hand signal to the sideline if they forget the route---if they are reading, both WRs read wrong.

They collide on the right side because the DB/S pushes the TE into the post from the receiver on the right, this is a non-flag for defensive holding as it is beyond 5 yards, on the left it may be by design as the void was made available, on short fields you can't run full speed trough zone defense. If Cam sees Funchess he's open for YAC.

It's beating a dead horse at this point. He can come back and be paid as a WR3 next year behind Moore and Samuel or he can go get a nice payday and play somewhere else. Everyone knows it including him.

I would rather have Wright.

You have a point about the DB holding, but the receivers should not be near one another at that point in the route--when the ball should be arriving.  They are at the 3-second point in the  route, when the ball is supposed to be out.  There are not many playbooks that have a deep post/deep flag pick play 20 yards off the LOS.

I am guessing the slot (TE) should have run an out and did not?  Maybe that is Thomas, and maybe why he has not been playing that much.  Dunno

Actually, whoever that is in the slot left is the one who should be getting the heat.  Funchess actually ended up in a huge void on the play, regardless of his speed getting there.  Had the slot receiver run his route with authority, he would have taken his man into the end zone and Funchess could have caught it for an easy score.  By running the route as he did, Funchess actually sold the outside corner on his non-involvement in the play.

I'm certainly no fan of half effort receivers, but this play was fine.  Yes, Funchess appeared to half effort it, but he ended up WIDE (*# OPEN.  Had the slot receiver run harder, Funchess would have only needed to out muscle the safety for a TD.  In fact, it looks like Cam did have a read to the left initially, but came off it too fast.  Hard to tell from that gif, but it looks like his initial look was left at the snap.  Certainly, he could have been trying to look off the defense, but the two receivers on the right colliding in the end zone blew up every chance of success on that side of the field.

Again, not an excuse, but this play on it's own isn't an indictment.

    • It’s like being on the Flyers broadcast team feed so far
    • Boy the flyers look good early. Lots of bad plays and slow start by our team. Hope that changes before the score changes.
    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes into account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as another treading water year (at QB). I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room. Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked. That’s how I look at it.
