Sounds like Cam needs to take some time like Luck did. Shut him down, have the surgery and let him sit next year or however long it takes to get it right.

Ron doesn’t have that kind of time, he needs to win and that means he trots Cam out if Cam says he can play.

I do like Cam, even though I hate some of the things he does, bad decisions.  But put Heinicke in and see how he plays the rest of this season, you never know until he gets legit playing time.  He could turn out great, a diamond in the rough and we'll be stoked about it.  Or he could tank and we can really thing about drafting a QB.

Midround QBs are a wasted pick unless you're just looking to have a solid backup QB.  If you're thinking about drafting a replacement, then a 1st round pick is what you have to spend, or hope someone with a 1st round grade falls to you in 2nd.

Well obviously unless Cam's arm falls off he's going to start. They need to draft a backup though, Heineke isn't going to be a long term option if Cam's shoulder continues to deteriorate. I'm imagining a Dak Prescott situation but it's always a crapshoot.

No kidding.

The fans/this forum has been right about basically everything this year.

(other than the homers and obvious trolls)(trolls that people keep taking seriously for some reason and actually respond to them and equate them to 'the fanbase')

Agree.  The season is over for us, no matter how strong the rose colored glasses some people put on are.

I'd honestly love for the Panthers to get Will Grier. Besides being a great quarterback, he's a Charlotte kid, grew up a Panthers fan and having him sit behind Newton (basically be Aaron Rodgers to Newton's Brett Favre) could make for a bright future.

That ain't happenin', though.

I could see Grier dropping into the second round. Don't think the Panthers wouldn't be wise to draft him there?

Temperature and field condition in Cleveland this Sunday are not Cam's shoulder best friends.....  Hits, sacks, dives, etc worry me actually more than repetitive throwing.  The situation with Cam reminds me a little of the stock market at this point, you hope that things are not as bad as they seem and that they will improve quickly, but you actually know better........

As a couple of others have replied, this is really up to Cam. He has the most fire and drive than ever in his career.[Since the SB loss]. With the present playoff picture in the NFC, it is highly likely the 6th spot will be a 9-7 team.  As long as the Panthers have a chance to be that team, Cam is not going to let anyone stop him from playing if he can. Ideally a 3 game win streak & losses by select teams would mean that the spot can be locked up before week 17. Then Cam, Luke & others can take that week off.
