Everyone relax, Cam is A-OK

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Panthers are not concerned about Cam Newton's shoulder injury.

Newton was replaced by Taylor Heinicke on a Hail Mary attempt in Week 13, raising concerns over his surgically-repaired shoulder. Newton is reportedly dealing with "general soreness," though the Panthers still believe he can "make all the throws." Rapsheet added that Newton's injury will not require offseason surgery. Cam didn't throw much at practice early in the week, but was upgraded to full participation at Friday's session, prompting his removal from the injury report.

Newton being okay and "the Panthers not being concerned" are not the same thing, especially with Rivera in charge.

Cam is a straight up warrior. He would elect to play injured if left up to him alone. A good coaching staff would step in an protect Cam from Cam. I don’t think Ron would do that. He’s concerned about himself, not Cam...he never has been.

    • when we drafted Bryce Young that team might have been more talented than the team we currently have ?  that was the whole reasoning behind morgagting  our immediate future to trade up to #1 overall for BY. our front offices & owners felt like hey guess what the time is now to srike while the iron is hot go hire an All Star coaching staff we were only a Qb away from taking that next step ..just saying
    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
