Beason on Rivera

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

So for the folks who insist that Ron Rivera is not deflecting blame for the team's recent losses, I'm afraid our old buddy Jon Beason disagrees with you.

Speaking on WFNZ with Nick Wilson and Josh Parcell, Beason mentioned the progression of Rivera's recent explanations.

Specifically, last week it was a coordinator problem, so Rivera demoted the coordinator.

This week, despite the coordinator change, the same result. So what does Rivera do?

He talks about their being "holes in the roster" that they need to fix.

Oy...

Beason also mentioned that he's been in a leader's position before, and that as a leader his first action after a loss was always to take the blame on himself, something Rivera doesn't seem to be doing.

So do you disagree with Beason as well?

Beason also recognizes that Rivera could be out of a job, contrary to what Steve Smith speculated.

Side Note: The WFNZ guys mentioned that Rivera is moving his press conference tomorrow from its usual 11am time to a little after 8am. They speculated it might be a way to get fewer media folks to show up.

Big Beas is one of my all time faves, love this dude. He’s right BTW. How many coaches would let the play clock run out on that fg? None, they would be running up the sideline screaming time out. Did RR, nah... how many coaches would blame players and coordinators before blaming themselves? Not many, except RR would. Every year it’s horrible timeouts, horrible challenge/non challenges, horrible game mgt and game flow, awful personnel choices and worst of all, he said he’d take a shot at our franchise qb too. He said that hours after our qb got his head destroyed and still got the 2 pt. Yes he should not have slowed up, but you don’t say that about your qb, especially after all he’s done for his stupid ass. I have had enough, he should have been gone in 2014, heck how many games did we almost blow in 2015 bc of his game mgt? Enough is enough.

When things are going well, sometimes you take getting thrown under the bus. As the saying goes, winning solves everything. But start piling up losses while your leader continually refuses to acvept any responsibility and deflects all blame back toward you and at some point it occurs to you... "Man... fug that guy."

Was a fun coincidence, but ESPN ran a segment on Andy Reid's coaching tree yesterday during their pregame.  Harbaugh, Bowles, Rivera, Pedersen, etc. there speaking on him.

One part of the segment dealt with Reid always blaming himself for losses, how a HC should, etc., and then showed various clips of his coaching tree coaches doing the same.  Noticeably absent from the clips was Rivera.

    • JJ Jansen not being on this list proves that it is shite.
    • 2025 NFL Rank: Predicting top 100 players for this season - ESPN I'll save you the click- 0 Panthers in the top 100. A couple of former Panthers and a hand full of "draft- What-If's" on the list. If this nothing else, this type of list shows the down stream impact of terrible player personnel and scouting that was in place here for years.
