"won't be there" realistically

count me in as firmly against any "Panthers should have lost week 17" reasoning. whether you pick 8th, 16th, or 32nd, it's who you pick that matters. having a higher pick does not in itself guarantee the player you pick will be better.

look at past drafts. there are plenty of #8 picks that didn't work out. there are plenty of #16 picks that turned out poorly. there are plenty of #32 picks that never made a mark in the league.

at the same time, there are plenty of players picked in the teens that far outpaced the #8 pick in that same draft. and I imagine there are numerous examples of a #32 pick exceeding the accomplishments of the #8 and #16 picks in their same draft. just focus on picking the right player at the spot you have, and put them in a position to succeed and develop. that's literally all you need to worry about this time of year.

the only time I would advocate for doing anything other than trying to win every damn game on your schedule is if there are 2-3 weeks left and you have a legitimate shot at the #1 pick and an obviously transcendent player. and usually teams in that position know well ahead of time that they suck and will need that specific player.

Of course... but does a higher draft position not increase odds of landing successful players? Please don't argue that fact.

It's why teams spend actual draft picks to trade up.

It felt like NO played to lose because they knew the draft implications and we didn't, yet again the evil genius getting over on Rivera by tanking a meaningless game.  Did Payton stratagizate to take the L while resting starters for the playoffs? 100% yes.

Rams!

So many Pass Rushers in this draft no way will they all be gone..

Jaylon Fuergeson is moving up.. Jahile polite is also there .. 3/4 teams will love Burns as well.. Ppl need to relax.. Hell if all the 1st round  pass rushers go you might get a top OT..

Falcons or bucs gonna scoop greedy and ed Oliver and get pro bowlers. We're going to have to take BPA instead of taking a need just to make sure we don't mess up. Deionte Thompson will be a panther.

Yup and this could have all been avoided.

Kyle Allen has worked his whole life for an opportunity and he finally got his one chance to go out and prove himself. Same goes for other unproven Panthers (CAP, Gaulden, Haynes). Do you really expect them to lose on purpose?

no but its shitty that Peyton ran a vanilla O and D on us because he knew he had nothing to gain from winning, why not make your division rival worse next year. He got exactly what he wanted. If they had gone out against a team who was actually competing and won It would be a different story.

Plus its a nice shitty cop out to say the streak vs NO is over. It is now a Drew Brees streak and he has won 4 in a row on us.

How long does the bitch session last??

Is this March, April, june thing or are you guys going to head into training camp.. Still bitching about winning a game??

    • at some point, though, you just have to suck it up and accept it and deal with the bad deal you got.  you go through funks where you keep making mistakes and hope that you get it figured out sometime soon, but in the learning process you realize you could have done some things better but you're stuck with decisions you make. you have two choices...whine about it or just brush it off and hope can make the situation you put yourself work. i know a lot of people in here have probably never experienced or dealt with failure much in their lives, but i have and i learned to just suck it up and try to make the best of the situation you've got yourself in because you realize that you're stuck with it for a while. doesn't do any good to keep harping over what you wish you had done better. you already know that. now it's just about moving forward from here and making the best of it and hoping you can make something of it. it's the easiest thing in the world to look at where Bryce falls short...and yes, that was intentional. everyone knows that and all that is done is beating that horse laying on the ground. what takes some work is trying to see how it can work and if they have done and are doing things to help the situation get better.
    • I completely agree. Guys like David Carr and Darnold have all the potential in the world but really could have benefited from sitting for a few years.
    • I will go to my grave thinking that some qbs simply need to sit for a spell and not start immediately and that having multiple head coaches and oc's in the first few years is a sure fire way to ruin a qb.  Having to learn new schemes, new terminology etc while having to learn to lead in the nfl is simply too much for the majority of qbs.  I know it sucks for the fans but look at KC situation.  That had a great vet mentor to mahoomes and simply let him learn with absolutely no pressure in his rookie year.  Not sure why more teams are not following that model.
