Bye Bye Love

Yeah but it’s better than us signing him for big money when he’s 32 and does not fit well in our 3-4 hybrid that we are starting. We are cap strapped and have far more important areas to fill (S, nickel Cb, OT, DE, C). If he’s asking too much....thanks for the good times! 2019 our D will be faster and younger with a good mix of vets.

Sad, but ultimately inconsequential...  our issues on the DL begin and start with overpaying and underperforming Short (and to a lesser degree, Poe).  We can't fix that by overpaying an overachiever.

And again, as quick as Hurney was to gainal a bad rep for paying players, Gettlemqn has largely gotten a pass for his horrible investments - Short, extended Trai instead of Norwell, Kalil, Shepard, etc.  We aren't over the cap, but we have more holes than we do money or assets to fill them.

We will get a starter in the draft, likely two

first round we should get a real impact guy on DL

sure would like to get that center from state as well, but we have to get DL first...the free agent $$ for DE is just crazy

We need to get linemen with all 4 of our first picks

fill in the blanks with FA

Just hope to God if we spend a first on a rookie DE Rivera won't make him sit like he did with Moore.

    • I'll say 6. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition and will do more to help the defense than anyone. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole there. For all the hype surrounding Sanders and Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
    • 2010 was worse. Not much worse but worse.
    • Lol since 2017 the Panthers are 47-85,    Also since 2017 the Giants are 40-91-1   Lol
