It was good in that yr

You want know till three years out. Judging it now shows your limited knowledge of football.

You were literally just judging it two posts back. Good grief.

Ridley had a QB last year.

You need to learn to read. I said that Ridley was more pro ready and he was. Not that the Falcons draft was better or that Ridley will be a better player. But for a team that was trying to win a SB last year why draft a guy who needs 2 or 3 years to peak?

Smith is an insurance policy.

If we find someone better for cheaper, we'll sign him.

If we find someone better in the draft, we'll draft him.

Until then, we have Smith and owe him nothing if we cut him.

It’s hilarious how few people seem to understand this concept.

Im not backing off the Torrey Smith deal. Weddle is making the exact same $ that torrey is per year. Our entire safety group is Reid and literal piles of dog poo.

Hurndog ain't done yet. The Paradis signing was huge, but he will make some smaller deals. We obviously still need starters at FS, OT, and DE, but other than that, we're not looking too bad. We still have $10.5 M in cap space (per OTC), Williams and Love haven't left us yet, and we have a few secondary players returning from injury. Cockrell, if healthy, is a legit starter. Seymour was slated to push Munnerlyn for the NB job before missing all of 2018. Searcy is good depth or almost $2M in our pocket if we cut him. Parms is healed up and resigned as depth.

Add into the mix that Gaulden has a year of experience now and I'm optimistic.

Part of me is cringing because of the Hurney-esque contract that kicks costs down the road and ties up cap without anyway to get out later, but this one works given the current circumstances.

Will be very interesting to see what the next move is.

I don’t know but I was messing with that Fanspeak over the cap simulator and it frees up like $28 million just by restructuring Cam and Short.

if we indeed have $10-11 million left, $8 million will go to draft picks so really it’s $2-3 million.

What would happen if we did restructure Cam and Short?

There's a much bigger game being played out in FA, contracts and drafts right now. A few teams are getting it, a few teams are trying to figure it out and some teams are being played for fools

Hurney's got it figured out. The Patriots figured it out a long time ago. The Steelers are figuring it out.

Have you figured it out yet?

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
