The recent rule changes have created a perfect storm for offenses and teams that don’t get fully on board will wallow in mediocrity. As such, even with this being a defensive draft, if MK Metcalf is there at 16, run the card up.  At 6’3” 230, he’s slightly smaller but faster than Megatron and the same size but faster than J Jones and J Gordon.  That gives us 3 young WRs at 4.42 or better, along with Olsen, CMC, and Norv.  Add another OL and RB, then fill in on defense.  Get back to close to 30 points per game and let the chips fall where they may on defense.  Even with what’s on the team currently, the defense will finish higher than 20/24.

So you made all these conclusions based on 8 games? 4 for each conference?  Pretty small n in order to make such big conclusions. How about the last 4 Superbowls? Did offense or defense win? Did the best offenses score under or over their yearly average in the championship games? There is a lot you can do with this. But to determine our future needs based on what little information you used makes little sense. Seems you shaped the facts to fit your already determined opinion.

Every team is built different. A team with Brees will not need a top 10 defense. The patriots last year absolutely won the Super Bowl because of Defense. WR is one of the last positions we need right now

Winners set trends vs try to follow  them. Offense is great but what sets a team apart is the coinciding ability to stop all these offenses.

If Metcalf is BPA, you take him and concentrate on defense in the later rounds.

There is always more than one way to put the puzzle together. If it's the deepest draft on the D-line (in history, that I've seen proposed by some) in a while, then you can address those needs day two. But, no mistake about it, IF Metcalf is the BPA, you take him.

You need to be good all around.  The team will have to go through a lot of games and will be tested both sides of the ball.
