They we speculating on who it could be on the facebook post...  I'm sure Smitty and Pep are in there, but the guy he was talking to sounded like he had a bit of a a southern drawl and only guy I could possibly think of was Hoover.

Southern drawl? That was a deep-ass voice...had to be Peppers.

That voice had to be Pep.

Stewart in his retirement speech alludes to 89 being involved in something awesome coming up.

So I think those 2 are easy calls.  They also are the 2 most likely actual HOFers.

So I think the expansion is just those 2.   Anyone else added then starts a debate with so many more folks IMO.  So if you argue a Kasay or Gross or whoever too many others can be brought up now and later that are or would be comparable.

The first group should be Peppers and Smith with them both getting statues and their numbers retired.

After that they should honor Delhomme, Gross, Kalil, Rucker, Minter, and Muhammad. No jersey retirement or statue.

They should also consider Stewart, Walls, Greene, Bates, Kasay, and Charles Johnson.

Keep retired numbers and statues a small group. Future HOFers (Peppers, Smith, Cam, and Luke) and people who define Keep Pounding (Mills and Davis).

That's way too many people. I get where you're coming from, but we can't add everyone to the hall of honor.

Honest question, how many people do other teams have in their hall...especially the ones that have been around a lot longer than the Panthers have?

No statues. The only other player I would consider getting a statue would be TD due to his very embodiment of Sam Mill's message to Keep Pounding.

c'mon... you know Smitty was all about that Keep Pounding. Dude was the the most motivated person we ever had on the field, and he came back from pretty bad injuries too.

First ballot HOF. He deserves a statue, and so does Pep.

TD doesn't deserve a statue, and never will. Hall of Honor? Sure. When he retires.

    • I don't see it as drafting a premium player to sit and wait if Walker gets hurt. We need a legitimate swing T. Unless you have a Sewell or Slater type tackle that is pretty much a sure thing, these guys can need some time to develop year 1 just like a QB ideally should. They all haven't played the elite 5 star talent on the edge. If we think another franchise tackle has dropped to us at 19, you have to pull the trigger. The position is just too damn hard to find. If it's just a "we need a tackle and this guy has a T on the board", yeah, move on, take one in the later rounds. But if that guy is there, let him back up and learn a year, then slide him into LT on year 2 of his rookie deal.  I don't see us being able to offer Walker a multi year contract after a prove it year, pay Moton his final almost fully guaranteed year, Hunt, Lewis a center and do a 50-60m extension for Bryce. The 3 most important positions on the field are QB, blindside tackle (usually LT), and edge rusher. Those are the premium positions that cost the most and are hardest to come by. If a starting caliber talent is there at 19 you have to pull the trigger.  I understand the need for a DT and S. I've been on the C and FS train for years. If we weren't staring at a potential Bryce extension, it'd make the decision a lot easier I think. It's just with all these huge contracts I don't see how we can hedge our bets on being able or even wanting to re-sign Walker, especially if he has a bad year. Icky and BC's injuries really hurt our long term plans.  If no blue chip talent at those 3 key positions are available at 19, by all means pass and draft another position. But I think it's pretty safe to say we don't have a guaranteed lock at any of them right now beyond Phillips, and they have to be somewhat of a priority.
    • Not completely accurate. I'm sure Roy is lobbying for him and Larry Brown has spoke put in support too. But Hansbrough has made comments pretty critical and hinting at a need for change. Joel Berry has gone a step further and said the standard has not been met. Scott Williams who was a teammate of Hubert's at Carolina has gone all the way and said it's time for a change at head coach.
    • 4.25 according to the ACC network broadcast. If only this guy was a couple years younger but he’s still a dawg.
