The Huddle has surprised me .... No Trent Williams talk!

Hey all, just a casual observation, but I thought for sure there would be some chatter here about the situation with Washington LT Trent Williams. (And any chance that Panthers could get him...)

I'm guessing the silence here is due to:

1. Drafting Little. Let's give him a chance to become our stable answer at LT and a 10 year starter for us! (One can dream!)

2. Big time signing hunger satiated by McCoy signing this week.

3. Lack of interest in an older LT prospect... doubt whether Williams is still good?

4. Sense that it's pointless to speculate due to his contract / our cap situation or some combination of the two.

But in the past there WOULD have been speculation here regardless!  Are folks that optimistic re: Little that we're not jumping at the idea of signing every LT prospect?

Most people are probably still in shock over Hurney doing a 180 and actually making decent moves. That and we might actually have a legit LT in Little.

No worries though, if Little struggles in TC you’ll get all the chatter you want

I think people feel decently comfortable about OL for once.    I think Little and of course Moton if we have to can be ok there.  Basically we've improved or tried to and at some point you have to roll with it.     If we didn't do ANYTHING to the OL that would be another matter.

In all honesty, I think we've got so many options at LT for once that we're sitting as well as we have since Jordan Gross called it a career. Little is there and shows a lot of promise, we have Daley (who I think has the right stuff, as well) and then there's still Moton who we talked about switching sides of the line before the draft.

Right now, it's just not a position where I think they need or even want a veteran coming in from outside. I think we're looking at establishing a long-time situation on our offensive line. We've got some great options at guard, plus a new center with a great upside and two back-ups behind him.

Once again, it's just on paper right now. Something tells me Matsko has got some great material to work with across the line for once.

Just to clarify... I'm not advocating for Williams, nor for more chatter about Williams!  I just genuinely have been surprised by the quiet here and in Panthers Twitter. AND I take it as a good thing!

I have no idea what happened to it but @ncfan did start a thread yesterday or a Tuesday and the sentiment was we didn’t need him/too expensive ($11m now and he’s holding out). I replied and then tried to go to where I was quoted and the thread was gone.

I deleted it.

The article I read was that he was requesting a trade due to medical purposes with the team.

But it was pointed out that he wanted more money prior to that article

If he was willing to play under his current contract.  Im 100% on board

Id trade Daryl Williams to be honest If we were to land him.

FS is still a need, but we dont know what Gaulden is going to do yet.  Improving the Front 7 does miracles for a FS.  We've had plenty of top Defenses under Rivera with no Stud FS's

Meanwhile, this team only goes as fsr as Cam's shoulder.  Even with a stud D.  So making sure he stays healthy should be the top priority.  This defense is strong enough to go far with a healthy Cam as is
