Will CMC become new face of Panthers

Sorry if this was already posted, didn’t see it anywhere.

GMF was talking about the upcoming story on Amazon about our 2018 season and Burleson stated that he thinks CMC will soon become the face of the Panthers, thinks he will have a “breakout “ 2019 season.

I think Cam keeps the title until he stops playing or plays somewhere else.

If 2018 wasn't a breakout season for CMC I don't know what is.

Cam is the face until he stops playing. League MVP and most valued position. RBs can rarely, if ever, be the face of a winning franchise in this NFL.

Yep, Zeke Elliott is probably the best RB in the NFL right now and he still gets overshadowed by a mediocre QB in Dak Prescott.

Was thinking the exact same thing.

If your RB is the face of your franchise in the modern NFL, you probably aren't winning much. Harsh truth.

I mean, Gurley is the face of the Rams IMO, and they were in the SB last season.

That said, no.  Cam and Luke are the faces, and will be for some time.

How many yards did Gurley have in the Super Bowl?

If your running back is the face of the franchise in the modern NFL, you probably aren't winning much.

Can you answer what that statement and the statement I quoted have to do with each other?

You quoted me and brought up Gurley. The offensive juggernaut that was the 2019 Rams were almost shut out in the lowest scoring Super Bowl in history. My initial statement which you quoted holds up.

Ask our team if they give a poo about merely appearing in the Super Bowl only to watch it slip away despite still being in it down to the last few minutes of the game.

There isn't a team in the league that can win a title with only an RB as the face of their team. Just ask Sean McVay and Jared Goff.

Both the Broncos and Patriots beat the Rams and the Panthers with stout pass rush.

    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
    • Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him.  Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process.  I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
