Car wreck

Wife was T-boned by a red light runner. Police report confirms it. Other driver has insurance, but don't know yet what their level of coverage is. She has 6 breaks in her pelvis. Car is destroyed. Question is, do I hire an attorney now or wait and see how they treat us? Attorneys take a big chunnk of settlements. Don't know whether to talk to them or let our own insurance subrogate and talk to them. I'm old but this is all new to me.

Wouldn't hurt to at least talk to a shark like Michael A. DeMayo. They've streamlined the entire process and have an incentive to get you the most money, since they get a big chunk of it. Unless you're an attorney, I wouldn't try to navigate a claim like this own your own.

Yeah, a lawyer is the way to go here.  And obviously make sure the other insurance pays for medical bills, the car...and anything else you can think of

I have missed thoughts/views on things like that.   I was a claims adjuster for a bit back in the day and it really boils down to lot of different things.   So there is no perfect advice as each scenario is likely vastly different.  Generally with real injuries involved it is best for most not familiar with things to have representation though.

but my two cents on the attorney route is NOT to go to one of those bigger ambulance chaser firms.

Get an experienced personal injury attorney. The average person doesn't know the right questions to ask, what the actual scope of the situation is, long-term needs and the legal requirements. Then let the attorney handle that part while you take care of your wife.

    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
