Nope. Herbert is going in the top 10.

I could definitely see this happening now post Tua's injury

Prior to that, I dont see 3 teams in the top 12 picking QBs

Using the playoff predictor website.  I have us drafting in the 12-14 range.

The

Jets- not drafting a QB

Redskins- not drafting a QB

Giants- not drafting a QB

Bengals- taking Burrow at 1

Cardinals- not taking a QB

Raiders (via bears)- not taking a QB

Broncos- not taking a QB

Falcons- not taking a QB

The wildcards

Dolphins- I dont think they draft Herbert that high, have heard they arent quite as high on him.  And would be fine trying to trade off that spot.  If Tua's recovery looks good, they take him.

Titans- we very well may end up with a better record.  They have been moving the ball better and looking better with Tannehill.  So they may continue to roll with Tannehill amd patch another hole over drafting another Oregon QB.

The Chargers- this is my biggest fear of all of them.  But they will be drafting close to us and will be jumpable if we want Herbert

Tampa- they will be ahead of us, but they have their eyes on a vet QB they expect to hit the FA market

If we trade Cam, we will have enough to jump and get him if we really wanted

I kind of always figured it would be Herbert and Tua to be the first two off the board with Burrow landing somewhere in the early teens. Tua injury definitely does change the whole conversation though.

Id be fine with Burrow as well.

Think Herbert and Burrow have swapped now.  I know some people like Burrow now because he spent the year under Joe Brady (which he has exploded).  Brady was on the Saints offensive staff the last 2 season.

*side note id take a hard look at Brady as a HC candidate then get a vet DC like LA and Arizona did.

Joe Brady is a guy I would love to see here. I respect RR as a man but we need to move on from him and MH. A total house cleaning of coaching would be fine with me.

I think we will go QB next year.

I watched Ohio State vs Penn State and if anyone with the number 1 pick doesnt take Chase Young they are crazy.  He is a game wrecker.  I dont even care about QBs...especially these QBs.  He is ridiculous.  Move up to number 1 Panthers and take him.  You get a probable HOFer

Grant Delpit has been aweful as of late. Is he hurt?

he was hurt earlier in the year, if he falls to a later pick like some highly projected safeties have in recent years (ronnie harrison, CGJ) come to mind I would 100% take him

I think we have to address the OL and DBs, safety in particular.  Granted, I'm just now diving into draft info, but I would like a TE too.  Greg has a year left and I'm pretty sure he's done after that.  I'd like him to train his replacement.  I'm not sold on Ian Thomas and we all know Manhertz is strictly a blocking TE.  I'm cool double dipping with O-linemen picks anywhere from 1st-4th rounds.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
