Want to get hyped!  Real good read here

"In the days after McCoy signed with the Panthers, Short got a series of text messages from his new teammate. The messages were actually video clips of Short rushing the passer, accompanied by some insight from McCoy.

“He was pointing out little things I could do better,” Short said. “He’s got so many accolades, he could easily just try to come in and do his own thing. But he wants everybody to succeed.

“His IQ is just unbelievable. He’s taught me so much about what to look for. He’s elevating my game.”

Our defensive front 7 should be tremendous this season.  Also, for the first time in I cant even remember, we actually have 4 legit starters in the secondary.  This could definitely be a Top 5 defense when its all said and done.

Any questions about Short's and McCoy's ability to play 3-4 DE? Not whether or not they can do it, I'm sure they can, but whether they can do it as successfully as they play the 3 tech.

Most 3-4 DE tend to be a little smaller. About 285-300ish, so I'm wondering how they'll adapt. We'll still play plenty of 4-3 so it's not a huge concern, but still wondering...

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
