The Offensive Line

I think people are overreacting.  They had an off game against a great Patriots front seven that was blitzing their tail off.  Odds that we were gameplanning THAT much for it is unlikely.

Not to mention they still have to get chemistry together.  Williams missed 2018 and Paradis is coming into a new blocking system after recovering from surgery.  I don't expect them to be perfect early on but they will likely keep getting better every week.

I'm just not concerned about it.  There's too much talent for them to not eventually figure it out.

The line is serviceable.  Probably closer to the top 3rd than the bottom third.  Most QBs than not in the league will be dealing with a worse line.  It's on Cam to stop holding onto the ball so damn long

Why are all the other QBs on the roster getting smacked around too then?

That guy hates cam. His name used to be mvp cam and then he changed it and started trash talking cam. Maybe cam slept with his girl or something

We would be better off starting Greg Little at LT and moving Daryl Williams to LG. Little has graded out better than Daryl in the preseason.

I dont know why the coaches dont think this is a valid option since we are going to have to probably chip on that side regardless

GVR deserves credit for giving his all, but his talent level is backup at best.

Williams would be an upgrade at LG

We seem hell-bent on trying to avoid moving guys on the OL. Little was drafted to be our future LT, so we only see him as a LT. I think we view Moton as our RT for the next decade, so we only want him at RT.

I hope it works out, but right now it looks like a dumpster fire. I would honestly have Moton playing LT, Williams playing RT, and Little playing LG.

Williams is a grading RT. Moton is quicker and more agile. It’s glaringly obvious they need to swap. Don’t start Little and put Larsen at LG.

Moton-Larsen-Paradis-Turner-Williams

I know Ron and Marty and the asst. coaches are “professional” football people.

But I’m with you, I totally don’t get moving the larger, slower, less-agile player to the left.

My guess, and I’m almost willing to guaran-damn-tee it, is that it 100% has to do with Ron’s precious run-game.

Cam’s health? PSHAW!

I think we're repeating the same mistake as last year where we fail to play our best lineup for fear of a specific guy getting hurt. Last year it was not playing Larsen at LG because we feared Ryan Kalil would get hurt forcing a change at both C and LG as Larsen slid over to C. This year it's not playing Moton at LT because we fear Williams will go down again forcing a change at both RT and LT as Little comes in at LT and Moton slides over to RT. It seems like we really want to allow Little to concentrate on one position (LT) and for a rookie I'm honestly okay with that.

    • Cooter, Kurb, others have passed on to glory….  Praise be.
    • Oh good for them! Hope this is the start of a long happy time in their lives here.
    • There was no reason to believe in either Cam or Jake as a top tier elite QB before those seasons either. Cam was an "athletic" QB in most people's minds and his passing skills were open for debate. And there was a bit to that as he was still trying to get that massive power in his arm tamed to be able to put some touch on his passes. And then, he did it. Missiles became bombs, the firing lanes became points of finesse. Cam grew up and leveled up, while still retaining the ability and drive to truck people whenever he wanted. And Jake... no one freaking believed in Jake except Jake himself. He got, and let's be honest with this, one chance in a losing game to make something out of his career. And he rose to the occasion like some kind of mythical hero and continued to do so for the season. He became a true leader for the team, and his gunslinger capabilities rehabbed Moose's career and created Smitty as a force in the league. Smitty went from a barker to a biter. But no one believed in Jake going in. And they trashed him on his way out. Now Bryce... who knows? I've seen some improvement. Maybe he finds his footing. His teammates seem to love and respect him and that means a lot. The game should be moving at his speed now. He has weapons available to him and maybe a defense that doesn't just roll over by the third quarter. And his coach seems to be moving this team in the right direction. Could he do it? It's up to him, if he can find the magic like Jake and Cam did. But don't doubt this, magic is really, really hard to find.
