Why it's complicated with Ron Rivera

It's well known that I'm not the biggest fan of Ron Rivera as a head coach...

...but he does stuff like this:

It's really tough to not have confidence that someone can succeed at something, but really really want them to.

I watched  Rivera's comments on the Sam Mills episode of "A Football Life". It made me think how depressing it would be to see such a good guy fail.

Basically I own him, and I do so because his obsessing allows me to do so. And to be honest, having your happiness depend on somebody else being unhappy is kinda pathetic.

At some point he might figure that out, but I kinda doubt it.

Rivera can do good things in other cities too.  Lets let him explore those options.

But he isn't good enough to get one. He had a shot and showed up unprepared and over matched coaching wise. Just like today.

I wish we could have him as a Coordinator, he just can't get it done as a head coach. His head coaching career is best defined by his favorite phrase "Missed Opportunities". He is a coaching missed opportunity.

As a person the guy is great. Would probably give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

 

On the field he makes very questionable calls and can kill you with his horrible time management. When Cam is good, Ron is good.

Nor sure if we will ever win a SB with him
