Truthfully I wouldn't be opposed to letting Grier sink or swim. Either way if Newton is "done" as so many are concluding, we're likely drafting another QB next year anyways.

But I'm not foolish enough to think this same lot won't be throwing Grier in the same trashcan after a few bad plays.

Grier is garbage. Cam isn’t healthy. I want these idiots in charge to realize Grier isn’t the answer so we don’t waste next year too.

Emotional attachment to Cam aside as Panthers fans and wanting to see this team win moving forward we can only afford to give Cam 2-3 more weeks MAX.

It's hard to say with Grier because he looks so terrified in the pocket at times. Is it a rookie thing he could grow out of or is that going to be who he is? You seem really bullish on him. You're going to need to develop some patience regardless of who the QB is if you intend on enduring the next couple of years of this franchise potentially being stuck in a desperate QB search. It's likely we're going to be throwing poo at the wall more often than not.

Well if we can't beat Arizona with Cam, it's over. That's about all we'll need to see sitting at 0-3.

If only the NFL could invent four preseason games to knock off rust.

Valid, though admittedly part of me feels like if the NFL invented magic "Fix A Quarterback" spray, Rivera would somehow find a reason not to use it.

Andrew Luck's story had been referenced all throughout Newton's recovery period. Part of me can't help but wonder whether a year off could have done Newton a lot of good.

But as mentioned before, we all know there was no way in hell Rivera and Hurney were giving Newton a year off given that their jobs... sorry, I meant "the good of the franchise", depended on him playing well.

We’re seeing teams with rookie QB’s have a little more success these days due to having the money to put together a better team without having to pay the QB. We have a good team. I mean we could easily be 2-0 and that’s still with a QB with one arm. If we play our cards right I truly believe we can compete next year.

Put you’re right that in the sense that it’s most likely going to take us a few tries.

Which is why I wouldn’t be completely opposed to giving Mariota a shot while we have this roster in place. Like I’ve said we don’t need Superman back there we literally just need someone who can make the right read and let one of our playmakers go to work. She ain’t a pretty list that’s for sure...

lol give it a rest already

Cam isn’t healthy. It’s that simple. He won’t get healthy by continuing to play. If you think continuing to stick Cam out there is what’s best for this team then you’re no better or smarter than the idiots that decided to let him play in those meaningless games last year.

But how can that be?  Ron comes on TV every week and assures me that there is nothing physically wrong with Cam, and that his shoulder and foot are just fine.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
