Newton may be dealing with a lisfranc injury

But not knowing how long it's gonna take for Little (see Oher and Luke)  to get better, you play to win games now. You put your players in the best chance to succeed. One game at full speed was all it took for about 90% of people to know, DW is a bad LT. Little still in protocol, move a guy who's been serviceable at LT to the position and DW back to RT. It doesn't have to stay that way, but you can't hang your QB out to dry while you try to build chemistry.

And another of the narratives around here that really pisses me off.  The I would have taken the shot bitch.

If that was Winston, Ryan, or Brees trying to just stroll across the goal line and Luke, TD, or Shack lit them up everyone on here would be saying it was a great play.  It was the second time Cam tried that, and the second time he took a big hit.  Hell if I was the coach and one of my players DIDNT hit him I would light him up on the sideline.

any midfoot injury is a lisfranc until proven otherwise

weirdest thing is that xrays can be negative initiatlly, then positive a weak later

My doc said the only way to accurately diagnose a Lisfranc was via mri .  And if Cam has one I doubt he will recover without surgery.

Regardless who is at fault this is a shame. This is gonna cost Cam a ton of cash.  This is 3 seasons in a row of being injured.     Even if he comes back next year he has lost a lot of negotiating leverage for his next contract.  With all these injuries the question still remains “Would you pay him 40 million per year?”

For a guy who made this franchise relevant for so long it certainly seems like this is the end of an era. I have a hard time believing that after that long lay-off he is gonna come back as the old Cam.

Lets hope Allen can continue to ball out or this is another lost season.

Should have IR'd him last week and we would be 5 weeks away now from being able to bring him back.

only if it doesn't require surgery.

Not a doctor but as someone who has had multiple fractures in the foot and was initially diagnosed with a lisfranc,  I think there is a very good chance surgery will be required especially since it has been aggravated by him playing on it.

How about this: it’s nobody’s fault.

I know, that’s a real hot take.

It's all good man.  Just having a civil conversation.   Nice to see there are a few people who can disagree and discuss points without personal insults.  I actually really enjoyed the chat with Mr Scott.

This type of back and forth is what this place used to be and why I joined several years ago.

Interestingly, haven taken some weight off might actually help with this situation...

No. Short term IR is 8 weeks. They can start practicing in 6 but can't play for 8.

I think we have enough roster flexibility right now just to keep Cam inactive.

And if the player says "I want to play" (as we know Newton would do, even if he shouldn't) then the coach can just defer to him or he can say "No, you probably shouldn't."

There have been several times when Rivera should have told Newton to sit down. His response is always "he doesn't want to". To which my response would be, "I thought you were the head coach".

You can tell him to sit for not wearing a tie but can't tell him to sit when he's hurt?

Pretty sure neither the NFLPA or the NFL would allow a player to play without medical clearance.
