..really a manchild..........not a leader of men..........

.....sorry but that's the way many of these catered athletes come across to me today.....

There is a time to have fun and there is a time to grow up and act professional.......Cam seems to act like he's trying to balance the two at times.....

Flame away kids.......

You don't have to be a Cam hater to agree with some of that. I'm one of the biggest Cam supporters here but I've said myself that if he's to go another ten years his perception of football being a "game" has to change. For #89 football was WAR not fun, blood and guts.

Sorry but they've been struggling to find an OC that could utilize his unique and formidable talents since Chud. Statistically that relationship was smashing records.

Slimming down to be a pocket passer was a mistake. I understand trying to attack the inflammation problem and all but being unique is the reason Cam is Cam. You can't just NOT QB sneak on 4th and inches when your success rate is %80, you don't win by fooling anybody. You hit em' in the mouth.

Cam is already well over the average QB career length. Culpepper lasted 11 seasons in the league. Only 5 seasons as a starter for a season, only 3 of those seasons did he make it 16 games. Cam has lasted better....but he has also been used FAR more harshly.

Culpepper is the closest equivalent. McNabb, similar story but 13 seasons...again, missed a lot of time. Vick was a different player and Cam has basically outplayed Vick if you line up their careers...but it's similar.

We're never going to have healthy Cam for a full season and the day we take away Cam as a dual threat is the day he is no longer our best option at QB. Period. It's time to move on and everybody wants to wait and see or think it's racist to look at it this way, but it's the truth.

Say it's 7 weeks from now. Kyle Allen is undefeated or has only dropped one or two games and played well through those losses....you don't take him out for a presumably healthy Cam. Kyle got us to that point, you ride that wave. If we go .500 or worse, sure. And at that point, if Cam can't come out and be 2015 Cam-esque, you know what you got and what you got is a subpar pocket QB who isn't a dual threat like he once was. You cut him loose, trade him, whatever.

Why can't the two be balanced?

I get what your saying.  I love Cam and he has made us relevant for so many years.

You are correct about the other players mentioned above. I don’t think they declined due to rushing.  Steve Young had 722 rushes over a 15 year career.  But Cam has rushed 935 times in just 9 years.

Jonathon Stewart rushed a total of 1705 times in his career. Cam has rushed 935 times, sacked over 300 times, and been hit in the pocket countless times behind crappy OL’s.  But when Stewart was 30 everyone on here said he had nothing left in the tank.  Cam has been hit just as many times as Stewart was. Yes I understand they are different positions.

Now to my point:   My question/concern is not what Cam has done in the past, but what is he capable of doing going forward.  If you take away Cam’s running ability can he be an accurate pocket passer?   He has never been that accurate of a passer  IMO.  So after 3 consecutive years of injuries on a guy that has taken on hell of a beating in his career do you turn around and pay him $40 mil guaranteed going forward?  His threat is truly as a dual threat QB.   What is he actually worth as a one threat QB?   That is the question I think is the most difficult to answer. And one that Tepper is going to be judged by for years to come.

I agree with everything you said. I think even after all the beating and yes he will lose some mobility.. and lost some throwing power.. but what's left is still plenty of arm strength to make throws. He will never be pinpoint accurate.  And what's left of his rushing ability? I think after slowing down he should still be mobile enough to even say Brett Favre, Arron Rodger or Steve young level of rushing..

I know that sounds like I'm discrediting their ability to but I'm comparing their rushing to possibly the greatest dual threat rusher to do it.. If you take a few notches off Cams ability to run shouldn't he still be on a lesser level comparable to those under him? No he won't be the goal line power back he use to be but he should still be fleet of feet enough to be effective running from the quarterback position. Which is different from the burst you need to be a running back.

From the qb position  lanes and when you choose to run are at your own discretion, it isn't a sure thing your going to take off if it isn't advantageous to you. It's a interesting hypothesis tho because we have never seen a old power running dual threat in the league. I think he could still be effective in moderate bursts.

The biggest question I have is can he stay healthy at this point and if you think he can then you work out a contract. I'm not saying break the bank but mid tier middle of the road money seems plausible. A back loaded proved it deal where you can cut bait if he gets hurt again.

With no fun, there's no competitive drive.

I really dont understand this notion that players have to be serious at all times. It's a fuging game. If you take the fun away, you take the passion away.

I hate people like you. Who think their is only one way to do things and you stand in the way of innovation and development. Language is about the spreading of ideas and the message. As long as you can understand the message that's the point of it period. Not having spell checker or grammatical format turned on doesn't mean your smarter or they are dumb because they didn't write it in old English "like the good lord intended"

This is the very definition of "privilege" and its appalling to dismiss a man's intelligence because he doesn't do things the way you think he should. What if everyone thought like you. There is only one way to pick cotton by hand.. the good old fashion way.. no one would have invented machinery to make those methods better and faster. Innovation is stifled by those who believe their is only one way to do something correctly.

All of the bottom-rung dumbest posters on this site post exactly like that, it's a completely bizarre phenomenon.  I don't know if it's supposed to reflect their inner monologue or what.

e: I mean seriously turn in a paper or a piece of correspondence that looks.............like....that.......and....tell.......me it looks professional or like something an actual grownup wrote.

This is why the world hates conservatives..do it my way or your an idiot you dumb folks don't know er  how to spell properly. This was a free styled idea letter to his fans. Something from the heart. If you got the message and the idea the punctuation shouldn't matter. This wasn't some English dissertation to Thomas Edison.

Who's grading this? You? You need to get off your high horse and drink a nice cold glass of stfu...
