Donte Jackson likely OUT vs Houston

This is by far the biggest injury of the weekend (outside of Cam).

Houston has 2 of the fastest WR in the league (Fuller & Stills).  They routinely run 9 routes.  Jackson is our only corner with enough speed to match them.  It's very concerning to have Cockrell or Elliot or anyone else on either of them.   Expect them to attack us deep early and often.

Any thoughts on how to mitigate this?

So is he still floating somewhere above Arizona or has he come down yet?

On a serious note, we mitigate this by unleashing Bruce Irvin and Brian Burns on Desean Watson. Their offensive line is terrible and our front 7 should be able to get to Watson at least 6 times this week. Play Cover 3 and 4 and unleash the beasts that we paid so dearly for. That will mitigate Watson's running, provide help to the corners, and help shorten the game assuming we can run the ball effectively.

Go for the Under on the total, go for 6 sacks for the Panthers, and a likely 2 to 6 point victory for either side.

Did he hurt his groin jumping 40 inches in the air?

I honestly have no idea.  He was limited in practice on Wednesday and then completely out Thursday and Friday.  I don't recall seeing him hurt after that and I don't think he left the field.  That's a good guess though.

I expect Houston to abandon the run and throw downfield all day and this game be a shootout. 34-30 area of points. I hope Allen is up to the challenge

This is exactly what I would do.  They have 3 really good WR.  Our secondary will be test big time.  Running intermediate and deep routes will take our LB  out of pass coverage game too and we will rely solely on our secondary to defend (without DJ, this is bad bad news)

Sheesh.

The season can play out a million different ways as it pertains to the draft. But there's a range where if the pick falls within it that paying Bradberry AND drafting a Fulton/Diggs makes perfect sense.

Next man up, good thing Cockrell looks decent so far

Cockrell absolutely looks solid.  But he's not a speed guy at all.  If we have to use him as our #2 CB then we put Elliot in at nickel.  It weakens two positions at the same time.

We need pass rush big time to survive this game because Watson is going to exploit the hell out of this injury.  And KK is hurt too so then our pass rush is losing the best DL we have.

Bad bad bad bad.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
