Should the Saints go back to Brees?

Depends on what condition Brees is in.  There is this unknown factor that makes it hard to answer one way or another.

This is actually quite valid.

Brees has been a dominant quarterback for a long time. The general belief that he should resume his starting job is based in the assumption that he will be completely healthy when he comes back.

Truthfully though, that's no more guaranteed than it is with Newton.

It's assumed because Newton has been hurt for a while and Brees only got hurt this year. People are going by recent history.

History isn't always reliable though.

So I'd put it this way...

Do I believe Brees will come back completely healthy? Probably.

Do I know for certain that he will? No, I don't.

Do I hope he comes back? I'm indifferent.

Ask me the same three questions with regard to Newton and my answer for the first two is "I don't know" and the third is "I hope so".

But as really should be obvious (but apparently isn't) hoping for something to happen and believing that it will are two very different things.

You sure about that?
edit: Drew Brees lost the final 4 games of the 2002 season and first 5 of the 2003 season for 9 in a row.

His second year in the league... Not with Sean Payton. Nice try though.

You said he never lost 9 in a row. All I did was point out you were factually incorrect. You didn't say since he has been a Saint or Since he turned 32 and 1/2 years old or anything. You said never. You could have just said my bad I didn't think about when he was a Charger.

Either Brees or Bridewater matters not, they will beat us 2 times this season.  That team is the best team in the NFC by a good margin.

Are they better than the 49ers and the Packers by a wide margin? Kind of hard to see that right now.
