He announced it early because Cam's not ready to come back and after Sunday Allen needed to know his team and coach were behind him. The whole team took an ass-kicking and he did no worse than anyone else out there, but the kid has a lot of potential and needs to hear someone confident in his abilities.

We literally gain no competitive advantage by holding out for a few days that Kyle is our starting QB.

Ummm... what you say to the media doesn't necessarily have to be the same as why you communicate internally. He could've been ambiguous to the media and still told the team that Allen will be the starter.

Once, again, but to what advantage?

Now, if he announces Kyle early but Cam dresses out on Sunday...

No one believes Cam is playing or near 100%. Ron pretending Kyle Allen wasn't going to start wouldn't have realistically changed anything.

Let's focus on getting the team we have prepared instead of hoping for jedi mind tricks.

Being ambiguous with injury status isn't "Jedi mind tricks" it's just standard operating procedure for NFL teams looking for every bit of competitive advantage that they can get.

I mean, I get it. It's easy for Panthers fans to lose sight of this because we've been watching our organization do dumb things for so long.

This is silly. Per NFL policy they'd have to report his practice participation Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Cam hasn't taken the practice field yet. No one was going to be blindsided by this.  Especially when he isn't taking reps in practice.

This is just the new narrative y'all are running with after the old narrative went down in flames.

He'll be listed as a limited participant. Just watch.

What is this "old narrative"? LOL!

I'm just hoping the team isn't looking past the Titans with the Packer game looming in 2 weeks.

We're actually undefeated vs AFC opponents thus far in 2019. We just keep losing pivotal games against NFC opponents which will completely unhinge our ability to contend for a wild card playoff spot.

Packers gun run on us like we're a pee-wee team. They are on fire right now.

I don't think Cam is 100% yet so this isn't much of a surprise. We may need to let Kyle try to squeak out wins at TN and ATL and also let him (probably) get clobbered in GB and NO. Welcome to the NFL, kid! Washington and the second ATL game are the first back-to-back "easier" games. That might be enough time for Cam to heal up properly and restart at 6-5 with a couple of winnable games in front of him and only one tougher team on the road (IN). I really don't think he's as far along as most folks think. Hopefully, I'm wrong. Best case is SuperCam comes back, we win out and get to 10-5. 8-8 seems more likely, but perhaps that is actually the best case if it shakes thing up?

The old narrative was Ron was doing the right thing and the team should go with Kyle Allen as long as he is healthy and give the team stability going into the week.

The narrative before that was the team has not been transparent with players injuries, in particular Cam Newton and that has led to bad results and a bad product for fans.

It seems fans want to both ways depending on the outcome of the week before.

As far as the limited participant quip, do you not think it will be reported how limited he is in practice? We were already told Cam wouldn't play unless he was 100% healthy. There's nothing to be gained from being dishonest here.
