Cam is eligible to return in the playoffs, unlikely as that scenario would be

Jourdan Rodrigue took on that scenario recently.

She considers it highly unlikely.

She's not wrong... if Allen (and the team b/c it's not all of him) can play well enough to get into the playoffs in an exceptionally tough NFC this year, he deserves the opportunity to lead the team.

And coming back rusty for the playoffs wouldn't be fair to Cam either... his season is done.

I agree, however if Allen were to get hurt week 16/17 and we are in the playoffs Id rather go with a rusty cam than a virgin Grier. only scenario I can see it happening

Wild Card week would be the earliest week. Pressure is off of him to recover, though.

What the fug

We sure do have some have delusional Cam nut huggers when they’re hoping he returned and Allen sits after Allen somehow (though doubtful) plays through 14 weeks and gets us in the playoffs in a tough NFC conferences all the while with Packers, Seahawks, Colts and Saints x2 still left on the schedule meaning he’d have to beat most those.

I mean I get most of the fanboys haven’t watched football before Cam but do you guys really think that’s how it works? Lol

If Allen gets the Panthers somehow I’m the playoffs he isn’t sitting, and shouldn’t for a QB in cams situation.

Playoffs? Weren’t making the playoffs even with Cam.

Why not? We weren’t making the playoffs a lot seasons....and then did.

If Chargers can whip GB.  We can beat GB.  We can play with anyone in our division.  We can beat Washington.  We can beat Indy.

We beat GB I will likely change my mind, but I don’t see that happening.

Yup, a rusty Cam is still a better backup option than anyone else we have.

y'all realize he can be activate/return from IR and not be handed the starting job back, right?

I don’t think the team or Cam would want him activated him off IR just so he can be the backup.

That puts both Kyle and Cam in a very awkward spot. If you bring him back this year it should be as the starter because Kyle is either injured or has fallen off a cliff and the latter just isn’t realistically possible in a scenario where we make the playoffs.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
