And I think after 25 games with a record of 12-13 is enough

25 games with a QB playing hurt, and a backup undrafted QB behind a trash OL.

Thats a dam good record all considering.  Not many coaches in the league could do that.

If Rivera has 10 wins with Allen coming in and taking over.  Itll be hard to fire, as this team will look like it has a direction and momentum.  Vs prior where who knows with Cam.  Had Allen not emerged and the team tending up under hkm.  You may fire him as there is no direction.  You would blow it up, new coach, draft a QB etc.  Allen has emerged, we Are playoff contenders this year with a young team, so only can get better next year.  You don't blow it up now if he ends with a winning record.  If he chokes and we dont have a winning record.......yes then you probably fire him.

Belichick could have this same team undefeated. That’s the problem. Players don’t change a team. HC does. The Browns have won 3 games with a team filled with talents. Belichick keeps trading away pro bowlers and still win SB after SB. I saw Jim Harbaugh go to SF and take a terrible team to the SB two years later. A HC is the difference maker, not the players.

1. How many Belichick's are there.  If thats who your comparing to.  Sorry your going to be disappointed.  That dude is the best one to ever coach in the NFL.

2. Yeah the Browns have all those weapons, you know what they dont have?  A OL.  You know what we dont have?  A OL.  We have as many losses as they have Wins, with a Backup undrafted QB.

Think it is up in the air if he is back or not.

I'm sure Tepper and him talked about moving to a 3-4 before draft and we all know or should know that is going take more then one year. And depends how much Cam being hurt affects Tepper pulling the plug or have a lame duck 2020.

I think part of his job is not run CMC into the ground, Rivera is  now relying more on our WRs.  I hope he brings out our other RBs at some point to lessen the work load.

Other side is for for him to develop Allen into a long term starter and protect him from injury, so they have options at QB next year.

I think playoffs are out of reach more or less, but these two items can tip the scales.

The staff also thought Taylor Heinicke was better than Kyle based upon the depth chart last season.

Maybe he was at the time

There were 31 other teams who didnt think Allen was a NFL calibre QB last year as well.  Including Shanahan, Bellichick, and Sean Payton

Guys improve.

I remember the guy in that original press conference.

He never actually showed up for work. Wish he had.

As far as his success or failure, it depends on what kind of standard you use. If it's Super Bowl or bust, then yeah he's a failure. If it's whether or not he had a good overall career and had some playoff success oh, then yeah he's done well.

Unfortunately, I do think his time here has run its course.

    • You're correct (on its face). But PFF does indeed use advanced stats to come up with their grades. Not trying to turn this into a debate about PFF (at all because it's been done ad nauseum), but here is how PFF explains it:   GRADES VS. STATS We aren’t grading players based on the yardage they rack up or the stats they collect. Statistics can be indicative of performance but don’t tell the whole story and can often lie badly. Quarterbacks can throw the ball straight to defenders but if the ball is dropped, you won't see it on the stat sheet. Conversely, they can dump the ball off on a sequence of screen passes and end up with a gaudy looking stat line if those skill position players do enough work after the catch. PFF grades the play, not its result, so the quarterback that throws the ball to defenders will be downgraded whether the defender catches the ball to notch the interception on the stat sheet or not. No amount of broken tackles and yards after the catch from a bubble screen will earn a quarterback a better grade, even though his passing stats may be getting padded. The same is true for most positions. Statistics can be misleading. A tackle whose quarterback gets the ball out of his hands quicker than anybody else may not give up many sacks, but he can still be beaten often and earn a poor grade. Receivers that are targeted relentlessly could post big-time numbers but may offer little more than the product of a volume-based aerial attack. https://www.pff.com/grades So PFF uses stats to come up with player grades and rankings.
