Defensive scheme change

We've been getting gashed whether it's base 4-3, 4-2-5, 3-4 or 3-3-5. I think it's a combination of undersized speed rushers and interior DL that are built to rush the passer as opposed to eat up blocks and keep your LBs clean. Too often I see teams combo blocking and getting bodies on Luke and Shaq, creating run lanes. Also doesn't help when your DBs to a poor job of filling run gaps.  

It takes a team effort to suck this much against the run.

So are we not playing 3-4 now? Im confused that there are simultaneous complaints about both playing and not playing 3-4.

About the only person I'd trust to analyze this is ellis.

Only way this defense can dominate: We have to get up early and force opposing teams to throw.... i.e Tampa Bay (2nd Game).

Saddest part is we aren't too far removed from a 21 game streak of holding teams under 100 yards. Ironically, that ended last year against the team we're facing on Sunday.

Side note: When we do hold a team under 100 yards rushing and we get our 100.. our record is somewhere around 40-13. 75% win rate.

we are facing the 29th ranked rushing attack that will be starting their 3rd string RB backed by the 4th string. 

I mean if we can't shutdown the run game come Sunday....I mean I think Carolina has to make some type of change.

Rivera solved our pass rush issue but it has come at the expense of our run defense. 

Typical panthers.  Solve one glaring hole by creating another.

They can run the old tried and true 46 for all I care. After 9 years of Ron I've seen this same song and dance before. He'll make some adjustments for the next game, the run defense will perform better, and then they'll go back to getting gashed again the following week. No consistency week to week. That's been Ron's tenure as a HC.

I'm just ready for him to be canned so the Panthers can finally join the rest of the modern NFL.

Sounds like all those online twitter sources stating with complete confidence what the Panthers would do might have been wrong.

Rivera’s 3-4 is balls. No innovation, no imagination, no attempt to disguise or confusion. We just line the OLB up on the line every time. Our guys go upfield and the RBs run right past. This defense is only going to work if we are up by two scores.

Imagine having converted d-linemen to protect your franchise QB. I loathe Rivera so damn much. The amount of talent he has wasted over the years is a travesty. I don't think you guys know just how hard it is to get not one, but TWO generational hall of fame players play on the same team.
