Outside of the Jaguars, none of the other teams had the kind of advantages the Panthers had when they started out.

I'm gonna set that aside though.

Once you get past 10 years in the league, you don't get to talk about yourself in terms of being "an expansion team".  We're now an established NFL team.

And frankly, we should be better than we are.

Seriously dude, not a single active player played in the NFL in the Panthers inaugural season. Hell theres only two players left from the 1990s still active today. You can't label this team an 'expansion team' anymore.

Very good point my friend! We live in such an instant gratification, win now society and it's hard to keep that into perspective. You're absolutely right!

Hmmm...."optionality"....I know Tepper's an expert in it but I've never seen him quoted using the term....

I'd argue Jerry Richardson inherited a MUCH better situation than Robert Kraft....and they took over their respective teams within a year of each other.  Think about that.

The Patriots were the equivalent of a toxic SuperFund site.  2 playoff games in a 9-year stretch and a 5-year span where they won 19 games total. 

By comparison the Panthers were a pristine green-fields site with no legacy problems whatsoever.

The divergence of the respective win-loss records over the next 24 years is truly stunning --- it all goes back to ownership.

Concluding on a positive note, Tepper gets it.

Outside of one season, 2006 to 2012 was a prolonged period of being pretty crappy.

      It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth

      Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
