NFL: One down

So who did you have being the first team eliminated from playoff contention this year?

It ain't the Dolphins.

That ignominous distinction belongs to the Cincinnati Bengals.

As to us, we're not mathematically eliminated yet, but the odds ain't great. Last I checked I think it's something around 12 or 13% probability of us making the playoffs.

It's that time of year when these sorts of announcements start being made, so winning is extremely important.

I’ll say this. There are some bad teams in the nfl this year, but you would be hard pressed to show me two worse losses than what the falcons and niners did to this team.

id give you the dolphins first two games and what the ravens did to the bengals a few weeks ago, but that’s probably it.

that pats vs jets MNF game was by far the worst slaughter of the season. Id also say the falcons loss is way worse than the niners. at least we put up some offense in that one.

Ravens over the Texans this past Sunday.

Week before Falcons over the Saints

Week before despite GB scoring late to mask it some the Chargers flat out embarrassed them

Then us vs 49ers

Patriots over Jets

Week before that Broncos shutting out the Titans

I mean almost every week someone gets totally dominated

Heck early on the Browns dominated the Ravens.   Score was 40-18 with 30 seconds left

Division rival who is 2-7 comes to your house & dominates you, & the only score you get is a useless field goal that I guess in theory is supposed to make you feel better. You instantly go from somewhat hopeful contender to exposed pretender. Yeah, that's about as bad as it gets.

Yeah we either have a terrible GM,Coach or both. This year has been hard to watch at times.

When was the last time we actually beat the Falcons? 2015?

Good news is this Saints game coming up will probably make the Falcons game seem not so bad

Which is it, in your opinion?

What's your official position on Riverboat and Hurndog as it relates to them being employed by the Panthers in the 2020 season?

Will either remain employed with the team next year?

    • We won't know the answer to this for a long time. Reality is, Caleb has been the consensus #1 in that draft for years. Bryce was a similar situation, but mostly the same. He was not the clear and obvious #1 that Caleb was, but most teams had Bryce at QB1. The Panthers were always going to be terrible Bryce's rookie year.  I don't think DJ Moore's presence would have changed anything about that offense, as our guards, center, and left tackle were getting demolished on nearly every snap. It's clear Caleb's dad was trying to do everything possible to ensure Caleb didn't end up in Chicago with Eberflus. It's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have done the same, but probably more publicly with our situation, considering Carolina is an easier target for the media than Chicago. We can all speculate, but it's impossible to tell who is going to have the better career on May 16, 2025. If either QB doesn't pan out, we have an easy answer. If both flame out, the bears clearly won the trade, but it wouldn't have really mattered anyway. We all know how we win the trade. Candidly, even if one of the other picks we gave up ends up being a hall of fame player, we don't know if the panthers would have taken that player anyway. All you can do is make the best decision you can in the moment with the information you have. I really like Bryce Young, and I'm glad he's a Carolina Panther.  The only way to win in the modern NFL is to have an absolute dude at QB. I personally am happy that our franchise recognizes this, as I remember times when they did not.
    • This year, there's been enough positive talk from core players, free agents, and coaches to where I believe the culture building and momentum is more important than fighting for a worse record.
