Joey Slye is actually very consistent

Fortunately for Slye, the season is over anyways. So they might as well keep rolling with him for a while to see if he can right the ship. It sucks because he is 6-9 from 50+, yet has missed 4 xp this year.

Counter argument: tbh I think we may have the worst field goal blocking in the league. If he didn't push the kick yesterday right it would have been blocked. Doesn't excuse the earlier 2 xp misses though.

That's why I say we keep him until the end of the season. Sure, sign a vet but let Slye try to prove himself. It's uncommon to be a rookie & start making 50+ yard FGs right away. If he can work on his XPs & his mental toughness (I'm sure knowing how crucial yesterday's game was got the best of him), he'll be gold.

Kyle Allen was TERRIBLE last Sunday. And what happens the next week? Performs with Pro Bowl stats & proves he can do it. I'm sure Joey will do the same.

I seem to remember Gano missing a 25 yard FG in the 2017 playoffs against the Saints. They both suck.

Same game he made four other FG's?  The game where Gano scored 14 of our 26 points?  Where he made 86% of the kicks he attempted?  Yea, that was terrible.  :eyeroll:

Terrible was watching us lose our rematch to the Broncos in the 2016 opener behind a Graham Gano miss for the win after Denver tried to rip Newton's head off for four full quarters.

We've been tortured with awful kicks for years now.

You mean that time Gano missed a game winner from 50? That’s almost as bad as missing one from 28.

Later on, he made a 58 yarder and four of five fg's. Gano wasn't the issue in that game, kicking five fg's was.  Slye was the issue yesterday.  At least the primary issue.

Gano's has actually made more game winning kicks than he has missed.  Since 2015, two against the Giants, and one against the Patriots off the top of my head.  Only end game misses were the Broncos and one other that I can't remember.  Maybe Detroit last year.

Like the scholarly Vick brothers? VPI is an overrated program.

We weren’t talking about scholars, were we? ‘Football’ and ‘scholar’ are two words that rarely mix in the NFL regardless of school they attended, isnt that also true? And don’t kid yourself that VT doesn’t also produce some fine scholars as well.
