Well, at least you don't have THIS to worry about

I wouldn't even want to speculate on how much this could cost me after yesterday.

Giant players fear post Thanksgiving weigh-ins

Quote

Via Dan Duggan of TheAthletic.com, the weekly weigh-ins on Friday are a worry for Giants players this time of year, since they can be fined $670 per pound for being overweight.

That likely made this morning a nervous time, after the offensive linemen gathered at guard Kevin Zeitler‘s place for dinner last night.

“I kind of lost a little weight before Thanksgiving so that when Thanksgiving came, I would be able to do what I want and eat what I want. I’m going to prepare,” guard Will Hernandez said last week. “I’m going to watch [weight] this week, so that way when Thanksgiving comes around I have some room to fill.

“It’s torture. It doesn’t let you enjoy your meal in peace. You’ve got to watch it. But overall, it’s all right. You still get your good food in. You just can’t go all the way like the way you really want to.”

It’s a bigger problem for bigger players, but at that kind of penalty, players were mindful of pie last night.

“Two pounds and you’re paying over a grand,” Hernandez said.

lol i bet dave stands there with his laptop sized cookies clucking his tongue every time a lineman lighter than him steps off that thing

Not a "Dave" thing. Per the article, the weekly weigh-ins were instituted by the strength and conditioning staff (which kinda makes sense).

Wonder if the Panthers do anything like that.

It just raise a very simple question, is it worth it? People spend a lot of money doing whatever they value and these guys, even the lowest paid one, make plenty of money. Funny but no pity. They lose huge chunks from smoking pot and that actually give them medicinal value. This is just whiney and sounds necessary if they are that hard up to stay in peak shape while making a lot of money. Its like Jordan Gross inverse. That dude was happy to not be 300 lbs and it took what, months to toss 60 lbs away?  I can think of a couple of Panthers players we should have done this with.

I cant understand why an organization wouldn’t want their investments eating 10,000 calories in a sitting?

Oh, I can perfectly understand why.

I'm just glad it's them and not me :)

After yesterday I'd probably owe at least 1340.

Yep, but no one on earth cares enough about my well being/athletic ability to incentivize my Thanksgiving abstinence.  I’m closer to being paid to eat something than being paid not to.

By the looks of Turner, I would say "no."
