It's pretty simple

Constructed two Super Bowl rosters

Drafted dozens of Pro Bowlers and Hall of Famers

Tepper realizes this season is mostly on Kyle Allen being the worst starting QB in the NFL and terrible coaches

There is no stupider take on this board than giving Marty credit for the 2015 team despite his being gone for three years at the time, though I'll grant crediting him for the 2017 season where he had been gone for five years and had nothing to do with the offseason is a close second.

A roster unambiguously built by Hurney last won a playoff game in 2005

2005

The 2008 team is the last good team he can credibly be lauded for, and even after that one got destroyed in the playoffs he gave the quarterback a big money extension.

The analytic minded hedge fund mega billionaire seems nuanced enough to understand that if you're responsible for all the top end talent on a team that went to the Super Bowl, you deserve the lion's share of the credit for it

It's too nuanced for emotional fans, I get it, but thankfully our owner is intelligent and seems to agree with this 'take'

You're referring to the same guy who thought it was a good idea to keep Ron Rivera?

Mentioned this in another thread.

Rick Bonnell tweeted this:

Rodrigue responded thusly:

She was accused of making excuses. And to be fair, she has generally been kind of a Marty apologist (was a big Rivera fan too)...

Afterward somebody asked her about the report from Ben Volin. She didn't respond.

All in all, it sounds like this is her own speculation but we'll see.

Media types defending Marty is nothing new. He's likeable and tends to be approachable and willing to speak with them.

That said, objectively speaking, he's not very good at his job. How nice he is doesn't change that any more than it did with Ron Rivera.

I don't live in Charlotte, and don't read the observer or use twitter.  But nothing in that statement is a defense of Hurney.

Two Super Bowls we had would have won if not for Patriots cheating/Mike Shula (which were not talent related)

Yeah, that's quite an accomplishment for an small market franchise team

Suggesting that Marty "built a roster" that was constructed three years after he was fired is unbelievably silly.

This while also acting like he gets no blame for the 2011, 2012, 2018 and 2019 seasons is just dumb.

Apparently he's only responsible for the roster when we win.
