If it happens, I don't believe it does until after the next draft.

His having his duties limited, on the other hand, could happen anytime. Possibly as soon as they hire the VP guy.

Does that make sense though? With a new owner, a new coach, a new staff (presumably) and a new GM it will feel like a new regime.

Look I'm not saying Hurney is great or Hurney is awful, but the way this is stated is somewhat misleading. The last time a roster unambiguously built by Hurney took the field was 2010, so while the statement is true, it implies a period of time in which his rosters haven't met that standard that is greater than it actually is.

If Tepper can't get his guy until after the draft it does make sense still, a new brain trust drafting in 2020 might stop people from saying silly things like "Hurney built this team".

Panthers fans need and deserve a fresh start.

The college season is basically over. Tepper may feel it’s too late to bring in a new GM and not lose much of the work that has been done

I think Hurn will be gone or moved to a new role when the draft is over and potential GM candidates are free of their contracts.

It's pretty simple

Constructed two Super Bowl rosters

Drafted dozens of Pro Bowlers and Hall of Famers

Tepper realizes this season is mostly on Kyle Allen being the worst starting QB in the NFL and terrible coaches

I mean in case you werent paying attention, Tepper explained, he doesnt want to lose the best college talent scout in the NFL.

DJ Moore, 24th pick in the draft, #3 in the NFL in receiving

How did we get Cam Newton? Oh that's right. Because we went 1-15 with an absolutely poo built roster. Luke? We sucked bad enough to get the number 9 pick. Peppers? Bad enough to get the number 2 pick and the only reason he didnt go 1 was the Texans needed a QB. He was the consensus 1 without question. Smitty. Theres questions about whether or not he was even responsible for picking him. Gross we got lucky with after Minnesota botched a trade, slid 2 spots, and we got to the podium to select Gross before they could.

And Tepper didnt say he was the best college level talent evaluator in the country. He said one of, not THE best.

3 winning seasons in 12 years. 0 offers to GM after his 1st stint in the NFL. He has proven repeatedly he cannot get it done. He's not the savior of the franchise, hes part of the fuging problem.

Exactly, it’s really easy to draft a bunch of pro bowlers and HOF’ers if you’re constantly putting together teams that net you a top 10 pick every year.

Those types of picks are never enough to create winning teams though.

Rational and dispassionate.

Marty Hurney isn't a terrible drafter and your ideas help keep hope alive. Good stuff.

Baker Mayfield is the worst QB in the NFL this year and it's not really even close.
