Predictions - When will the Panthers have a head coach?

Could be as soon as early January. 

Could drag on to early February depending on the playoffs and who we are targeting. 

 

What will be the date and time the new head coach is announced?

Igo or anyone in the know. We are clearly going for an offensive head coach. With Fangio and Patricia being retained who in the world is an option at defensive coordinator????

I would assume an up and coming positions coach that the future head coach is acquainted with.

Well i would expect after the playoffs so Greg Roman, Josh McDaniels and others can be interviewed.

DL Coach Bret Bielema is actually believed by some to be a head coaching prospect himself.

He could be a good DC.

I would bank on either 1/13 or 1/20, if I were a betting man. I am guessing between 10 AM to 12 PM "official" announcement.

He was terrible at Arkansas and just looks good because of Bill. I wouldn't like this

Eh.....a lot of pretty good coaches have been beaten by Arkansas. Bielema was very successful at Wisconsin. I am going to say that the issue with Arkansas is probably more Arkansas than some of their coaches.

I believe they already know who they want.  If he is on a playoff team it will be February, if not January.

Couple of items on the GM side...

Being reported that Tepper is reaching out to several executives with the Patriots (Jason LaCanfora)

Tepper has retained general manager Marty Hurney, who is assisting in the coaching search, but wants to restructure his front office and will making multiple hires to do so. Hurney's title could change through that transition.

Last offseason Tepper was among those who reached out to former Patriots executive Jack Easterby as well, sources said, with a pursuit of him not out of the question either. Easterby is currently the Texans executive vice president of team development, but his unique skill set and background could make him a candidate for numerous positions depending on how a team utilized its front-office structure.

And there's speculation he's ready to throw "a lot of money" at Kevin Colbert (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)

Caserio, Colbert and others are under contract through the next draft.

So what's that got to do with the head coach?

Tepper has said that the head coaching hire will have input on the front office hires. A hire like Josh McDaniels would lean heavily toward a Patriot infusion. None of the others really have those sorts of ties with anyone in the Steelers office.  Greg Roman might harken back to some former Panther guys like Ryan Cowden though.

It depends on who we're targeting. If it's a college coach or an NFL coach currently on the couch, I could see it happening within days of the end of the regular season. Obviously, if it's someone currently on a playoff team staff then it would have to hold off until that team is eliminated.

Im hearing more and more talk about Josh McDaniels being the heavy favorite RN. 610 radio, Tony Pauline, Albert Breer, LaCanfora all seem to think McDaniels is the heavy favorite
