And yet coaching that disaster for even a single year will net you more earned income than the average person makes over a lifetime. Yes they are still the Browns, but would you coach them for whatever Stefanski is going to make this year?

I think the damage to your reputation around the league is probably minimal. My guess would be other teams give you a pass cause, it’s the Browns.

Its absolutely life changing money.  Suddenly you have enough money banked that for the rest of your career you can be selective about your assistant coaching jobs and you can have multiple homes so your family can have stability while you bounce around the country going team to team like many coaches have to do.

It's like hitting the lottery, but with extra steps.

And finally, from years back but it looks like it was written for the Browns organization

It's death by middle management and "consultants."

Welcome to the chlamydia of corporate America. Endless meetings, reams of metrics, no actual contact or experience with the product and no real responsibility except for CYA.

The Browns found an entirely new way to suck since the change of ownership, so they've at least accomplished something.

This whole analytics approach to decision making in the NFL is the latest rage and will likely run its course within a few years.  I'm not saying analytics don't have an important role to play, but they shouldn't be a substitute for a great coaching talent with years of experience.  Reminds me a lot of the Quality Management Systems of the 1990's, paralysis through analysis.

There's the whole "sports science" thing too.

Chip Kelly was big into it but the Eagles didn't really gain much from it. Then the Eagles scrapped it and won a Super Bowl without it.

Now we're gonna try it...
