Brown is good.

But that OSU CB and Thomas are my faves.  With Jeudy just a tad behind bc of how awesome this WR is.

Not much on building a team from the outside in, especially when we are devoid of talent on both lines.

But both the CB and WR seem to be really good players.

So, let’s see, we have a QB coach who was brought in as an offensive assistant with Saban in 2018 and installed the RPO system with Tua.  We brought in an OC who installed the Saints offensive system to LSU and turned a JAG QB into the presumed No. 1 pick in the draft.  We brought in a HC who was given a 7 year contract and is tasked with building a sustainable winning team.  If these three guys identify someone that can be the centerpiece for this process they will do what it takes to get him.  If that person is Tua, they won’t just wait for him to drop to seven, they will need to go up to get him.  No way Washington trades out of 2, so it’s Detroit or NY.   Love to hear the conversation between Hurney/Gettleman if it comes down to that negotiation.

Honestly, I would not.

I think that we would need to get to 4 to get Tua if that's what this FO and coaching corps wants.  Miami would likely take him at 5 for sure.  I don't think that Detroit would pull the trigger, as it would be pretty hurtful to cut Stafford next year, and this year is a certain no to cut him.

To move to 4 I think you would have to give them the 7 and our 2nd this year, and possibly a late rounder next....

It is going to come down to BPA between 4-6 players, IMO.

Here I am assuming the following will be gone:  Burrow, Young, Okudah definitely go before #7.  Brown, Thomas, Tua, Simmons, Herbert, Willis, Espenesa, and Jeudy will fill the next 3 spots, so make the big board (based on current needs) from this group.

1T. Thomas.  Grab the franchise LT and move Little inside.  2 birds, one pick.

1T. Brown.  The Panthers are likely to have 3 interior DT needs. Brown can play them all.

3. Simmons.  The Panthers could use a LB, I heard, and replacing a stud requires a stud.

4. Herbert.  This becomes #1 if Cam is not getting a contract offer in 2021.  If we keep Cam for 2020, then Herbert becomes a developmental player on the bench for a season.  I know, some hate him.  He has the skills.

5. Espenesa.  If we let Addison walk, Espenesa might be higher on the board.  We need that big, run stuffing, bull rushing DE--hopefully, he can develop some pass rush moves.

6. Jeudy.  A luxury pick, but what a way to complete the WR corps.  Moore, Jeudy, Sameul---oh my word.

In regards to herbert.  Hell no.  I dont want my franchise quarterback to be a cerebral introvert that has been trying for 2 seasons to convince people he is a leader.

Your first group has 8 players, not to mention Young, Burrow, Simmons, and Okuda.  That 12 players total, we cold trade down and still get one of those 8.

I've looked at a lot, did you have anyone in mind?

I know it's still early, but

Thomas.  Do you think he is a legit plug and play LT?   Is there anyone else?  Becton?

Simmons.  He had a great championship game, but I didn't even know him at the start of the season.  Is he the real deal?

I assume you think D. Brown is very worthy of a 7th pick.

Epenesa.  He seems to be rising pre-combine.  DE's are hard to find...if the above 3 are gone, is he worth a 7th?

And in your trade-down targets, you mention both safeties who I don't want in the first and probably not even in the second.  They both have more glaring flaws imho than most 1st round picks.

I know you'll be posting more after the combine.  Just bored.

I dont want him because Oregon has a long history of QB busts.  He had a good SR bowl and he seemed to have teammate respect there, for all I could see.  They may agree with you, but his skill set is unquestionable.  Yet you are right--mentally he has some challenges ahead.  If I am taking a project,  I do it in the second round.  I am guessing 4 go in the first.

    • Yea when teams see a gun charge they rightly pause but this seems like a big misunderstanding.
    • Sorry man you lost me at "Teppers have evolved as owners". Limped into playoffs at 8-9 not even above .500 Tepper is trash as an owner bro and that's not even a discussion at this point. 37-83 w/l ratio. Nuff said.... Morgan tho, he's cooking and it ain't cuz of Teppers leadership
    • After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...
