Love sitting behind Brees for a season or two is scary to think about. They’ll might not end losing a beat once Brees retires

Meanwhile we moved on from Cam to a guy with a career best 3200 passing yards and 14 TDs and isn’t jacking that up with rushing stats. SMH. We are the 4th best team in our division and we aren’t trying to get a real franchise QB so that we are ready when Brees and Brady are gone and Ryan is almost 40.

I actually prefer CJ over Okudah.

I’d have absolutely NO ISSUE with taking CJ at 7

Can I ask why you prefer him over Okudah?

Full disclosure, Okudah is #1 on my board for our selection if available and I think he's the third best overall player in this draft. I see flaws in CJ's game, but am having a hard time finding downside in Okudah's game.

I'm not against Henderson in the teens, but at 7, I would have serious concerns with the selection as reaching for a need over BPA. I don't see a draft that doesn't have one of Okudah, Simmons or Brown available at 7.

Yeah I'm not seeing it. Henderson is a fine gamble to take in the 15-25 range, but Okudah is one of the best CB I've ever seen

I would be thrilled with either one. I really hope the Lions take Brown so we can take one of these two. Imo CJ’s a tad more explosive and stronger.

What don’t you like in CJ’s game? Minus the tackling. That I understand. However, he has no problem chasing down anyone in the open field from behind. Caught up to Deebo Samuel real quick.

Would Lions take Brown before Simmons?

The tackling is important to me and I feel like our next young CB1 has to offset Jackson’s weaknesses, which tackling is one. I feel like DJax already uses his gifted speed and anticipation too often and good QBs can take advantage of that. Not saying CJ is 100% a clone of Jackson, but two CBs that use speed and anticipation as their strengths scare me.

There’s a lot to like about CJ, just not my flavor at 7 overall.

And he also regularly played against lesser competition playing in the Big 12.

Oh lord, I hate the "lesser competition" argument between the Power 5 Conferences. For years it's been Clemson, Alabama, and everyone else. This past year LSU was the other big kid on the block.

You have the almost level of teams like Ohio State, and then you can throw most average or better teams from the P5 conferences in a pool and there's no major difference in competition.

Getting pasted almost every year by Alabama, OSU, LSU, and Clemson doesn't make you a good team or a good conference because you play "against higher competition." It's just an excuse to make you feel better about being a loser riding the coat tails of the biggest names in college football.

To be fair, it's mostly the SEC the sack rides "how great the conference is," and I've never ever heard a conference chant from any other conference except in mockery of an SEC team getting wasted by someone like WKU and still yelling "SEC." Congrats on getting beat by WKU, and then getting the "privilege" of losing to Alabama next week.

If a kid can go to... oh I don't know Washington or Boston College, and play exceedingly well, then you generally know they're going to have at least some mental toughness because they did it without being surrounded by 60 other 5* tri-athletes to shield them from the moment where suddenly they aren't the best guy on the field and expected to hold their own regardless.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
