Double edged sword here. The Steelers connection to Tepper could potentially lead them to allow an interview, but if they have Hunt tabbed as Colbert's replacement, the answer is more likely to be "no".

Honestly, I'd take Hunt to straight up replace Marty right now.

Also worth remembering there are a couple of options out of Cleveland that you wouldn't have to wait on in Alonzo Highsmith and Elliot Wolf. Since both were let go in Cleveland's front office shake up, no permission needed.

I personally like Highsmith better than Wolf but Wolf probably has the better reputation owing to his dad.

Also, if we're looking at another "friendly" team that might do us a favor, how about the Bills with Lake Dawson, Joe Schoen or Dan Morgan.

Potential issues: Schoen would be a lateral move (though he could be promised a quick succession) I don't know that Morgan's ready for it yet, and given Dawson was one of the sham Rooney Rule interviews before Richardson reinstalled Hurney, that could be awkward.

I warned everyone that Hurney was running the show on the coach hire and the Assistant GM position.  He's in control, he picked Rhule and theyve given Rhule free rein on who he wants in. It will be Rhule and Hurney doing interviews for the assistant gm job.

Yup business as usual. I've given up on us ever having a good GM. It's just not going to happen in the foreseeable future.

I think Tepper will hire Casserio when he becomes available. Hurney will be gone after the draft. Rhule will use Hurney as a source of information on scouting information on players but Rhule not Hurney will have final say in the player drafted.

Caserio working under Hurney still feels unlikely. Before Marty stumbled back into power for the Panthers, he was taking a hatchet to Belichick’s operation, of which Caserio was a central figure.

From conversations I have had with people in the know is Tepper is a VERY hands on owner. Makes sense, you do not get to his wealth by sitting on the sidelines.

You mean outside of the story where Tepper said they were at the interview with Rhule and Marty convinced them to shift from "interview mode" into "recruiting mode"?
