No Marquee Free Agents Will Want to Sign Here If They Get Rid of Cam

Losing Cam would hurt us in the media not FA. Players are signing wherever the most money is. This is the NFL careers don't last long and the chances of major injuries are at a higher rate because this is a physical contact sport.

Don't ever think Players look at market in the NFL. They look at money above all.

If the Dolphins offered Cam 4 year 150 and we offered him 4 year 100 you think Cam is choosing us over Miami?

We don’t sign Gerald McCoy last year without Cam.

That was about as “marquee” as we get.

and we are in for a rude awakening with this bare cupboard of talent and Hurney running the show for years to come we will be bone dry.

Will be a giant waste of CMacs prime.

No--I agree about last year--but I am not sure we sign any this year---I am suggesting that they will not want to sign any.  I think we sign some depth players--maybe a DT, CB, S,  G, for example.

It’s been 1.5 years...before then he barely missed a game.

What makes you think his foot magically won’t heal?

Go ahead and ignore the piss poor performances in 2017,2018, and 2019 because his shoulder was messed up. Go watch that week 17 Atlanta game in 2017 where the Saints tried to hand us the division and we got beat because Cam was throwing middle of the field passes out of bounds. Then go proceed to watch the Saints game in 2018 where he couldn't throw a 5 yard pass...

Lol 2017 when he literally carried us to the playoffs?

2018 when he was off to his best start as a passer until he got banged up?

fully rested and ready to go cam is far and above literally any other option right now.

but yeah I’m sure Hurney can pull off a rebuild and somehow find us a lunch pail type guy to build around haha yeah ok

And lost the game that would've kept us having to play the Saints anywhere else but Charlotte? The team that beat us twice already? I like Carolina's chances better in Charlotte as the 3 seed vs the 6 seed Falcons. Then Carolina would've got to play the Vikings they beat weeks before... Unfortunately, sometimes you have to win crucial games. Carolina beats NO, they weren't winning 3 road games anyway. There was a good chance New Orleans could've upset Philly, giving CAR the NFC title game at home had they beat Minny again.

Either way, it was clear that loss was because of the injury, thus it is definitely allowed in this conversation.

2018... Watch the first 8 games ( I attended the first 6 in person) and see the fact Cam didn't throw crap past 20 yards except once or twice. The Steelers exposed us.

The last game Newton won in a Panther uniform?  It will have been 16 months since that date if he is traded.

It was not that he was hurt---we have doctors.  If he was, it was made worse by playing.

I wonder what Cam would think if you told him that day after the team started 6-2 he would potentially never win in a Panthers uniform again. As bad as the injury was, the team should've won the Seattle and Detroit games... Funchess and Gano screwed up Detriot, Gano gave Seattle the ball in deep territory in a tie game cause his scrub self missed a 50 yard FG. Win those two the Panthers are 8-3. It was still fairly obvious Cam was not doing well.

The Steelers exposed this coaching staff. Are you forgetting how many points they laid on this defense? That ish had nothing to do with the offense.

I love these arguments. CMC and Luke Kuechly finished 0-8 in their last starts as well. Guess they're trash too huh?

I'm sure the pick 6 after the one play TD pass by one of the top 2 receivers against the game with a rookie corner had nothing to do with how the rest of that game went. 2 Drives in a row the offense got Zero and gave the Steelers the ball back down 14-7 after going 3 and out. I remember well, I was at that horrible display of football.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
