People have penned up energy, but I'd also say the media (of all forms) has a captive audience right now.  People would normally be distracted with other things on a daily basis, but they've got time to obsess over stuff now in a way they couldn't before.

For sure. There are 40 million people without jobs, benefits are running out, many have yet to receive benefits, personal savings are empty, millions more are losing jobs every month,  repos and foreclosures will start soon, etc

Nearly every high school and college graduate is jobless right now with little hope to get a job in the next 12-24 months.

Economic depression + distrust/misbehavior of authorities + pandemic is pretty much a perfect storm.

Explain the logic behind this.

Masks and hand sanitizers.  Both corona and flu spread same way.  Lots of people wear masks now and use hand sanitizers after touching things unlike before.

Generally, one indication on how the upcoming flu season for the USA is to look at how Australia and other countries in that hemisphere are dealing with it. If there is a bad flu season in the Australia, expect a bad flu season in USA.

This year is going to be different.  It’s who takes the most precautions.  If we got a second waves and schools become remote... flu season will be very weak.

1,200 new cases in NC today (within 24 hours).  New record.

The important thing is to see the hospitalization and deaths number over the next 7-10 days.  If there's not a sizable spike in either, that means the virus is weakening.  Sure nobody wants to get sick, but the mortal fear factor may subside from the levels of just a few weeks ago.

Yeah, that's definitely jumping the gun big time. It could also mean that it's largely a less vulnerable population being infected.

It's possible, but you're assuming people area actually going to stick with it while I'm personally seeing more and more people who definitely aren't. We're definitely trending the wrong direction on it.

    • I don't think so. I think once you're measuring electronically, the spot is where the sensor says it is. So if it says half yard short of the line to gain, that's the spot. Now how that works with scrums and the ball moving on two minute drills and poo is anybody's guess.
