A failure to trade Christian McCaffrey will cost us Trevor or Fields

sticking with a quarterback like bridgewater is the doomsday scenario for those people lol. it was hard enough on them with cam when he was playing at an mvp level for their alleged favorite team. though fields would be a nightmare as well so they might appreciate a few meaningless wins if it pushes him out of reach.

I agree with line one then you lost me with your racist rants. I loved having Cam. 2015 was an amazing experience until the SB. I was in a resort in the Caribbean watching the NFC Championship game. Couldn’t have been a better game to watch. Amazing that you can insinuate racism even with the Fields comment. Maybe, just maybe some of us see the dire straights in the D, don’t think 2015 Cam is ever coming back and know that strapping ourselves to a $35-40M Cam contract means the next four years would be just like the last four.

The racism poo is old. It must be a sad life when that’s all you can fall back on about Cam. Must be racists not people who have lived through the last four years of injuries.

injuries are a part of football and the panthers are at least attempting to replace cam with a guy who you could say has ticking time bombs for knees if that time bomb hadn't already gone off once before lol. it's not about injuries, everyone looked the other way while luke repeatedly injured himself and clearly played hurt and poorly. cam was and still is worth the risk to a team whose only alternative to taking that "risk" is tanking. if you can't detect the racial animus in this fanbase then that is on you. but it's there and whiny posts like this won't change it. in fact the biggest culprits love it when you pretend they don't even exist. funny how that works.

I don't like Trevor Lawrence. I must be da rasists too.

That’s fine too. I like Fields and Newman looks promising too. I think the 2021 QB class looks solid that’s where I want to find the next Manning or Cam or Rodgers, whatever.

That said, pretty bad post trying to back up his garbage post about us fans who don’t like black QBs because we are ready to move on from Cam. I just want the best rookie QB I can get and I don’t like Herbert or Love. Has nothing to do with race. I think Lawrence and Fields are better than all the QBs this draft. I would have left Tua in there but he’s an injury risk.

Well, first Luke hasn’t missed near the same time and has also played at a much higher level the past couple seasons even if he did drop off a bit. He was also under contract and wasn’t about to get a huge deal. No reason to keep Cam unless you plan to extend him. Cam’s nuts to play a rebuild year with another shitty OL in the last year of his deal. Sure the Panthers seemed OK with that because they don’t really lose. I’m shocked people didn’t think Cam would want out and probably still don’t. Replacing Cam with Bridgewater is stupid. All it does is extend mediocrity. I want Lawrence or Fields if you prefer because I think they can be franchise guys and give you $140-160M in cap space from 2021-2025 to use to make a Denver splurge and get the SB.

I just don’t appreciate the racists comments. Feel free to target an individual who says something like that. Most of us who want to have discussions don’t appreciate the broad strokes when they aren’t true. I liked Cam as my QB because he was awesome. I just don’t think that 2015 guy is coming back so I’d rather reboot.

We've all seen what McCaffrey can do, he can break games open, and will win even the worst team in the NFL to a couple of wins.

You don't think if CMC was on the Bengals last year they eke out 2 extra wins?  There will be a few 200 yard CMC games that we unfortunately win if we don't trade him.

On the other hand, by the time Lawrence is in his 2nd season, CMC will be an old and broken down running back on a maximum salary.

So there's no reason to hang on to CMC.  He costs us draft position this year, and won't be in his prime by the time our new QB is ready.

The only reason to keep him at this point would be to sell tickets and merch.  So this is a test of how bad Tepper wants to win versus make money.

Glue sniffin', bed wettin', cry babies.

You don't trade away the best guy on the entire team.

And before someone points to the Cam trade... they aren't trading away the best player on the team.

What? How did it not work out? I guess tanking for Cam didn’t either since he never won a SB. Damn Cam sucked. I don’t know why people get so hung up on Luck. It was a great pick by Indy that like Cam, got derailed by injuries. Indy was 1-15. They went to the playoffs three straight years starting with Luck’s rookie year. 11-5 every year and the best they did was the AFC Championship. They lost to the eventual SB champion in two of his 3 playoff years until he got hurt and then it was all over. His recurring injuries were what caused him to retire. It looked like he was going to miss last year as well, which would have been his 3rd almost entire season. Cam’s been hurt but only really missed 1 entire season.

No shoulder problem and Indy likely makes 8-10 playoff appearances with Luck instead of 4 (made 4 of 5 when healthy). We made 4 of 7 when Cam was healthy and starting to get nicked up. I still don’t think it wasn’t a good tank. It worked until he got hurt.

No plan is going to work out when Ryan Grigson is making the decisions. Constantly going after “weapons” for Luck instead of trying to protect him is all that went wrong with that tank.

As for CMC, even from a person who has no preference anymore, I think I’m glad I don’t have to make that call. I can see both sides as logical. CMC, Moton, and DJ are pretty much the only players that could bring any decent picks. But are all there is to build around. So it’s understandable people don’t want them to go anywhere.

We aren’t tanking for anyone,...

Exactly. Look at KC. They were paying @ $55M to their LT, Watkins, Kelce and Hill. They paid the weapons around Mahomes because he was on a rookie deal. Affording Moton, Moore and CMC will be relatively easy with a rookie QB contract.

    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
    • My top-5 JAGS: 1. Tommy Tremble: May not ever be top-tier, but has been solid and you never doubt the effort. 2. Cade Mays: Not bad for a 6th rounder. Hated to see him go. 3. Brady Christensen: One of the most versatile backup OLs in the NFL. Hopefully we re-sign him. 4. Trevis Gipson: Quietly was really solid depth last season. Glad we brought him back. 5. Brycen Tremayne: Has been solid depth at WR, flashing at times last year.
