  1. 1. To tank or not?

If we would tank we would miss out on Lawrence and fields . So let’s compete. Teddy has potential to be a top 5 qb , people are acting like we still have rivera and Norv . We have one of the best college coaches and an offensive guru from the ncaa champs

It should always be to compete. What if we tank for Lawrence and he is not pro material? We blew a whole season just to end up back where we started.  Time is not a luxury: I want to see my win sooner rather than later. On thing though, I will not watch a team tank for a year , especially on purpose

I'd throw Taylor Moton and DJ Moore in there as well. An argument could be made for Shaq Thompson and Brian Burns. Perhaps not a strong argument, admittedly.

That’s about it. And KK is more a liability right now than an asset.

I would definitely  be trying to sign Moton now and trade him if he doesn’t want to. I’m kind of surprised CMC hasn’t brought up an extension. Or maybe he has.

We should be in deep negotiations with Moton, I doubt we are.

I don't consider KK a liability. He is literally the only DT we have that is worth a damn and he is still an high level interior player. He has a couple of more seasons here and then we will move on(just based on his contract).

I would wait to extend Moton until Cam is cut. Lots more cap room available then. CMC.....well.....I will be curious to see what they want to do. We will be able to afford to make him the highest paid RB in the league but his window of being good is highly, highly unlikely to overlap with our window of finding another franchise QB. I can see the argument for keeping him, I can see the argument for letting him walk.

With KK, the contract is the liability. He’s still a very good DT, just not worth that and especially not to a team In the Panthers situation.

I mean his contract is really no longer a liability. Once we cut Cam we will have plenty of cap space that we won't use this year and then the next two years we basically have little to no salary around. I would agree if we hadn't engaged in a complete firesale of the team but we are going to have Colts levels of salary cap available before long.

It’s a 17M dead cap hit to trade him. We have to give him 14M more for this year and next. That’s 28M cash for a player most likely gone after that if you did keep him. Add 40M for a QB to do good, but not too good. This is all money that can rollover down the road when it will be needed. And you have a much better idea about the team.

It’s not about this year. Should be the last thing they worry about.

We only have $126 mil on the cap in 2021 at the moment. So we are looking at roughly $60-80 mil in cap space in 2021 and about $130 mil in cap space in 2022.

Even with a big CMC deal and maybe even a Moton deal, that leaves tons of cap available.

None of that means throw away money on players that won’t be here when this process starts to turn around in a couple years.

But now with reports of two different agendas,  allegedly, who knows the real plans.

It's not throwing away money any more than signing Teddy Bridgewater is. That money will be long off the cap by the time we are "turned around." That's why I didn't have an issue with keeping Cam this offseason. Even though the cap was tight, his money disappeared next year anyway.

This is very simple: BOTH

Not a chance do I want to tank until its proven this team can not compete. Come out firing and the moment its crystal clear that you can not, start the process of improving the draft stock.

Odds are they will know in Training Camp with this group, but no one knows the future. Panthers could hit on many draft picks, Teddy could be elite/MVP, and even the league added a extra playoff spot.  We will not know til real games are played. I know it looks impossible with the Defense, but Snow may have sold his soul to the devil to make the playoffs.

This is probably ideal. Look at what the Dolphins did this past year. They knew they'd be poo and traded away their dudes. The crazy thing is that they tanked and should still get the guy they originally wanted in Tua.

    • These are the three deep throw attempts that Will Levis made in week 12. His first one is a beauty; Levis and Westbrook-Ikhine gets the safety to bite on a deep dig only to go over the top for the score. His second throw is another beauty: a crosser to Calvin Ridley reminiscent of Bryce to XL (though Ridley has noticeably more separation on his route). His third and final deep shot was an incompletion from his own endzone on 3rd & 14 with pressure coming down on him (to me, this seems like a solid throw).   Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-02.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Levis took half of the deep shots that Young did. The differences are: Ridley had much better separation than XL, which is why his deep crosser turned into a 63yd play since he was able to scamper for another 15+ after the catch. Westbrook-Ikhine holds on to his TD pass. Bryce had to throw one away to preserve time for a field goal. Bryce had two more throws that were incomplete due to the WR Are we really holding the three WR errors and clock management decision against Bryce in order to say that Will was better throwing deep in week 12? That's not passing the eye test nor is it confirmed by the data.
    • If you go on the PUP list before the season starts, you are gone for the year. If you start the year on the PUP list then you can get off of it. Kind of semantics, but we are putting him on the PUP list now which is before week 1, that’s why people who come off of it aren’t really on the PUP list until week 1, hence you usually hear right before the season that they are “starting the year” on the PUP list. I think PUP list and IR may basically be the serve the same purpose now because you also sometimes hear that if a player is added to the IR before week 1 that they aren’t eligible to come off the IR list for the entire year. Now, everyone added to IR (post week 1) can come off after 4 (or more) games so the PUP list is meaningless since it’s 6 games and starts at week 1. Anyone added to PUP or IR in the preseason is gone for the year.
