I'm Not Sure What's So Hard to Understand

It’s like Tepper is rubbing Marty’s nose in all his bad deals and making him process them out before he gets canned. The team will have a ton of cap space and be a total blank slate for Rhule and co going forward.  No idea if it’s going to work but I feel like anyone who says we don’t have a plan is listening to twitter more than actually paying attention to what they are doing.

Five year rebuild? Dallas [Jerry Jones] hasn't won a SB in 25yrs. Washington hasn't since 1989 [30 yrs] with Snyder as owner. Right now both look a lot smarter than Tepper, IMO. Hedge fund smarts do not & will never translate into PRO-football smarts.

Tepper said this would be a 5 year process. We haven't even began year 1 and people are completely freaking out and whining. We didn't win crap with what we had, and with a new coaching staff and system things were obviously going to change drastically. Why everyone is acting so surprised by that blows my mind. I'm no fan of Marty Hurney, but he has to be here through the draft (even though he isn't a great drafter) He and his staff have worked the past year scouting players. Bringing in an assistant this year will give us an easier transition when we permanent ban Hurney from making anymore decisions for us in the future. I'm not mad about the Bridgewater signing. He is a decent QB and good locker room guy, and someone perfect for holding down the position until a drafted QB is ready to lead us into a new era. I wish everyone on here would exercise some patience and try to "trust the process" a little even if its confusing and weird right now. This is not the time to panic over our direction

The NFL isn’t a 5 year league. If you aren’t hitting the playoffs at least every 2 years you don’t make it. It’s just how this league is.

Well to be fair he's only owned the team for a few years now so it's a little early to call it anything at this point.  This season will really his be first with his completely hand picked people.  Buckle up.

Does Tepper have you following him around on a leash or what? You don't have to brown nose after every decision the guy makes.

but this isn't a rebuild, or if it is they are doing it poorly.

If you want to rebuild, fine, just do it the right way.  Get rid of bad contracts, don't sign any expensive free agents, clean up your books, trade or release Cam.  Make sure you get all of your comp picks.

That's not what we are doing.

I am just not buying the process getting rid of all the talent and then replacing it with bench and practice squad players.

Honest question. Specifically what talent did we get rid of that didn't end up getting overpaid by another team? We don't see what happens behind closed doors. How do we know that these players weren't offered what we felt was fair for their production and going to work for us with the available cap space?

We wasted a QB who may go down as an all time great and people say "trust the process"? Best to temper or squash all expectations and watch the fireworks.

I definitely agree that we mishandled a good bit of Cam's tenure here but the new owner and staff are asking us to trust the current process. How would you have had Tepper, Hurney and Rhule handle Cam's future with us moving forward?

How could anyone trust the process we are seeing? You want us to watch a bunch of head scratching, ill advised moves and just assume they know what they are doing? And they, being an owner who doesn't seem to grasp the process, an GM who is a proven failure over time and a coaching staff with as much combined NFL experience as the Huddle?

Yes...

Yep, all I have been saying. I thought Cam would be traded a while ago, but then I thought he was staying. I always wanted to go for top pick in 2021, but this is a mess. Why do you need a bridge QB? If Teddy can bring us to the SB, great, but he can't and we aren't paying him like he can. What's the point other than trying to mess up our chance at getting a franchise QB and screw ourselves from more picks (we need as many as we can get).

It honestly feels like they are signing Teddy to make the casual fans feel like the team isn't giving up or trying to tank. Marty was around when Weinke got us the #2 pick in Peppers and another top 10 pick the next year with Gross. He was also around when Clausen got us the #1 pick and Cam and another top 10 pick the next year with Luke. We've done it twice now and it's worked, but now we aren't using live bait in Grier to fish for the whopper?
