The market for Newton

Mr. Scot

I think everyone can agree that Cam is a special QB.  It’s great to be special but not TOO SPECIAL.  You can’t just drop Cam into any offense.  Add that to the injury history, salary demands  and current industry shutdown and you have a very difficult problem.  Even if you passed him on medical, you won’t have the time to install a suitable offensive scheme for an assumed one year prove it contract.  That’s why I see Buffalo as a logical match.  They’re ready to win the East but still have a huge question mark at QB.  They have as much of a similar offense as anyone other than Carolina and a coaching staff that is familiar with him.  It’s definitely worth the chance.

What sense does the last part make ? There’s a quarantine, so he can’t meet with teams ect anyway, also there’s no way to determine who and who doesn’t have Interest without being someone who’s directly involved. I’d wait until the quarantine is over before jumping the gun on that one

He’s probably thinking of Tom Brady, Bridgewater, Rivers,  and the other players, QBs and backup QBs who were signed...

  • ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler says the Panthers also evaluated QB Marcus Mariota and were open to keeping QB Cam Newton without an extension before they signed QB Teddy Bridgewater to a three-year deal.
  • An NFL source said Carolina wanted to take a measured approach as they’re high on the 2021 class of quarterbacks: “But Teddy gives them flexibility either way. You don’t have to draft a quarterback with him in the fold, but he’s a good guy to learn from if you do.”

You should quit posting on things you have no idea about.

Tepper and Hurney screwed up on this one. The writing was on the wall looooooong before Rhule got here so his hands are clean but not the other two.

Or maybe you should quit posting on things you have no idea about....

There’s truly no helping the people on this site.

So what makes your opinion so much more qualified than mine?  What do you “know” that I don’t, or that the rest of us don’t?  Who is your inside source?

Um yeah....

The colts chose Rivers causes they need a guy that can stand in the pocket and throw it.

The bears chose to trade for Foles and take on a stupid contract RATHER than trade for Cam.

The friggen Redskins would rather have KYLE ALLEN than Newton.

The Jags would rather start Minshew than Newton.

etc, etc, etc

all of you guys are going to lose your minds when Winston signs before Cam.

PS - the panthers did him a solid and let him go now. RATHER than waiting till June 1 where they could have saved cap.

Amazing. Everything you stated in that post is wrong.

The Panthers could have traded him a month ago pending a physical and could have cut him a week ago so he could compete for a spot.

The story has been all day talked about endlessly on both ESPN channels and radio.

what you said about “Doing him a solid” is totally low class. Maybe thats the bar in Canada....low class.

The team owed Cam NOTHING. Read it again ... NOTHING.

This is a business. He took us to one SB and lost. Popularity means zilch win it comes to wins and profits. This team will win games again.

You all act like he was the only thing holding the team together.

What, you wanted a farewell parade? A statue? A street named after him?

How do you know they did not tell every GM from every team they could trade for Cam if they wanted him?  I kept hearing at the combine that he was available to any team out there.  Just because Rhule told one thing to the press doesn't mean that what the front office was telling the other GM's.

More came out posted elsewhere that teams wanted an official physical and work him out and can’t.

also, when the initial story broke that the team gave permission to seek a trade, they had told his agent he would be traded and he asked to have a choice of where,...

that was the day we all saw the article.

that was AFTER free agency began... and after Nick Foles has been traded and others signed.

its also been talked about relentlessly today on both ESPN channels how much the Panthers fooked Cam in the butthole over this whole thing.

completely low class. The team was bought and is run by trailer trash.

The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue says Panthers GM Marty Hurney informed QB Cam Newton‘s camp a few days before the legal tampering period that they would be exploring a trade.

After that, Newton’s camp requested more autonomy within the process to explore a trade, which the Panthers granted and which ultimately led to the wording and backlash of their announcement they had given Newton permission to seek a trade.

Yep, he was paid well to play a game here and is owed nothing. I’m not surprised at how he was treated, he acted like a 5 year old that got his feelings hurt for months before he was let go.. No idea why there are so many butt hurt fans.  Thomas Davis was my all time favorite Panther, but once he was let go I didn’t pay one bit of attention to what he did elsewhere and I won’t Cam either. My bet is Cam will be no  more than average wherever he goes.

Actually everything I said is FACTUAL about the other teams selecting other QB's.

The point we can debate however is if the panthers should have cut him sooner. .FFS maybe we should have just held on to him and made him compete for a job. Then if he was no good cut him in the preseason...

"Low class" ... sounds like we might need to have a tinderbox debate on our country policies.
