#7 Trade- the Panthers trade down.  The Raiders are slowly building a solid foundation but really have a hard on for Isiah Simmons.  The Raiders move up to 7 from 12 by trading 2 3rds and a 2021 2nd

#12: Javon Kinlaw- the Panthers interior DL has been gutted and Kinlaw is way to good to pass up here.

#27: Seattle is a team known to trade down.  The Panthers get on the Phone and move back up into the 1st trading away one of the 3rds picked up from the Raiders and a 2021 5th

Panthers select

AJ Epenesa- Epenesa had a bad combine where people left concerned if he could be traditional 4-3 DE in the NFL.  Epenesa is all power similar to Calais Campbell.  Epenesa fits Rules scheme like a glove though as you saw Lynch thrive in that role at Baylor.

69. Bryce Hall- Hall was once projected a 1st rd prospect prior to suffering a severe season ending injury this past season.  With teams unable to bring him in for medicals and workouts, he is pushed down in this already deep group.

81. Michael Ojemudia- Panthers double dip at CB in the 3rd due to this deep crop.  Ojemudia comps to Bradberry by some.  He had a solid season and good combine.

113. Solomon Kindley- Kindley falls due to teams feeling he is no more than a road grading RG.  Well........the panrhers just lost their road grading RG who they knce drafted in the 3rd rd.  Kindley comes right in with potential to start day 1.

Trade!

As part of the Kyle Allen trade, the Panthers received a 5th rd pick, a high 5th infact..

Panthers package together both 5ths and move up into the mid 4th for

Leki Fotu- NT Utah.  Fotu is oozing with potential which Rhule Loves.

6th and 7th BPA

What to note on this.

Ive had them taking a WR in rd 2-3 prior to the FA signings.

LB, yes we lost Luke.  But suprisingly, it doesn't trigger me to draft a LB.

With the signing of Whitehead, im fine at LB.  Now while everyone is so sucked into is "going back to 4-3".  People forget Rhule's intro where he says he likes that "multiple" D.  Which you see more of a trend.

Multiple 4-3 dont run 3 traditional LBs anymore.

First off, half the time, teams are in a nickel base now with 2 LBs and 3 CBs.  Then the multiple, when they play 3 LBs.  The 3rd is a joker, more of a 3-4 OLB hybrid.  See Jamie Collins, see Anthony Barr, etc.  That said, I think Christian Miller could be that guy.

So that being said

Your 2020 Panthers Depth chart

Im confused, we get a first for a 3rd and a future 5th?

Cleveland traded 33 and a 4th to move up to 29 in 2017

Last year Atlanta moved up into the 1st from pick 45 for a 3rd rd pick

We move from 38 to 27 for a 3rd and a future 5th

I like the write up and that this is unique/focusing on different prospects but not a fan to be honest.  Do think the CB double dip is possible and the overall DL/Secondary direction could very well be happening.

Kinlaw I like.

Green-Matos is the guy I REALLY like for us though if we find ourselves at the tail end of R1.

    • Facts it's still crazy that they made him sell over that especially considering what some of the other owners have done.  JR was a rich 80 year old white man from the south I'm not at all surprised about him making some "inappropriate" comments about what a woman is wearing water is wet what a surprise. That's just the way things were done during his time, and he should and did get punished for his actions by paying some hefty fines, but it definitely wasn't something that he should've been forced to sell his team over.  I'll never forget him insulting Peyton Manning during a negotiation, reportedly belittling the quarterback’s knowledge of player safety and asking, “Do I need to help you read a revenue chart, son?
    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
