Give me Dan Morgan over Beason all day

That’s a tough one. Id still put Beason just above Morgan or equal though. Different game same position. We need to draft a MLB though this draft. We’ve never not had a MLB from the draft(that was best in class). I’m not convinced they are gonna put Shaq in the middle even though he’ll probably be calling the defense this season. I see him calling from the OLB position.

((that said I do think Shaq is going to ball out this season))

I hadnt been on the Simmons train, but what you just said makes a lot of sense.  We have always had a dominant MLB and it seems to be part of our identity

We've had an absolutely embarrassing amount of talent at MLB for such a young franchise. Sam Mills, Luke Kuechly, Jon Beason, Dan Morgan. That's one borderline HOFer (Sam Mills has been an HOF finalist), one highly probably HOFer (Luke), and two guys who had HOF talent but had their careers derailed by injuries (unfortunately a common theme among our MLB talent).

I love Rucker, but I’d put CJ above Rucker.

are we doing this based on skills or stats with the team? I love Davis but Dwill and JStew both I think could all swap with Davis (although Dwill has burned his bridges here)

as said earlier, we’ve had stupid level of talent at the LB position. Dan could and should have been a HoF if it wasn’t for injuries, same for Beason.

Jake is basically my QB growing up, but Steve was a pretty good QB too for a short time for us.

It's basically just my personal opinion. I hard a hard time choosing between CJ and Ruck.  I went with Ruck because he had more tfl and more tackles in about the same amount of games played, which leads me to believe he was better vs the run.  CJ had more sacks, they were both fun to watch.  While Jake was QB, I always felt like Steve was a better QB and I felt like they did him wrong.  Jake went to a SB so kinda hard for me to put Steve ahead of him.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
