Oh Marty

I’m not giving up on Little, I’m honestly fairly optimistic about what he can become without injuries hindering him. But yeah ur completely right, every team makes those mistakes. I’m just frustrated in general like it’s getting to the point where only 1-2 maybe on a really good year 3 players remain on the team after two years. We keep missing and our drafts will never lead to sustained success, and I think it’s absurd that Hurney is still our gm.

Fair criticism.. Hurney deserves most of the criticism he is getting from the fan base.

Reading this just makes me so frustrated with Marty. He really could have drafted nearly anyone in this round and they would have filled a hole. But instead of course he traded up for a lineman who very likely would have fallen to our pick anyway. Greg Little has accomplished two things so far... two concussions. Then this year Marty traded our pro bowl LG for an old expensive lineman at the same position as Greg Little!! He somehow managed to make more holes with a draft pick he is incompetent. And don’t even get me started about the Will Grier pick, he likely won’t even be on the team in the next two years. Fire Marty or just at the minimum kick him out of the war room after round one.

Marty does 2 things that are tragic--he falls in love with players--like Armanti Edwards.  Then he gets desperate---like Little---and Armanti Edwards (remember, he traded up to get him).

He tried to trade up for Clausen (Rams at #33).  These other GMs smell blood in the water---they see Marty's boner about players are glad to trade with him.

Duggars or whatever is that player this year---were it not for Coronavirus, Marty would be in Hickory humping some LR leg about now.  It is embarrassing.

Jake Delhomme had surgery and nobody wanted him.  Marty gives him a contract twice what he should have paid---and the GMs around the league laughed. When Marty had to cut Jake, he flew to Chicago to meet with Jake's agent, and he cried.  Emotion is weakness in this arena.  You must be objective and focused.   Jake ran off with a bunch of our money and sucked the remaining weeks of his career.

So Marty gets it up for Clausen, Grier, (Cam was due to RR pushing for him), and Weinke.  And Tepper thinks he has an eye for talent.

Not giving up on him but I would be planning this team without him in mind.  If he works out then that is great but he is one hard hit from being out of this league

So is every other player in the league... That is the risk when you play football.. So the situation  doesn't change for anybody.. Otah was healthy his rookie season and done after that .. You can predict or fully plan around injuries..

At this point I truly wonder if tepper has really sat down and analyzed Hurneys entire body of work?

Every player in the league didnt get 2 concussions last season.  One more and he is probably done.  You cannot count on that.

Now I don't blame Marty for the Jake thing.. We all know where that order came from.. Marty being a yes man can be considered a flaw.. But it seem like JR would command the same of any GM he hired..

How the fug do you know who had concussion last year and who didn't??? They don't report or catch all concussion.. Also you don't know if it was more the ankle injury then the concussion that kept him out.. You also don't know if a different helmet or if they do the same thing they did for Luke will help.. So again you can't plan fully around injuries...

Does that not mean we can’t reflect on it? When’s the last time we have had a draft with more then two players even remaining on the team after a couple years. If we don’t reflect we will never change and we will never win. If you can’t even reflect on ur mistakes how are you supposed to change them?

It’s cool to reflect but if so look at things in the grand scheme not in a bubble, most teams have the same issue each year. Not an endorsement of hurney, but the recent changes doesn’t help the evaluation of his drafted players.

drafting players for a 3-4 only to switch to a 4-3 a year later doesn’t help, and that atrocity of a coach Job our interim did, didn’t do any player not named cmc a favor.

we haven’t had too many drafts where multiple players remain on the roster as contributors in some time

Twenty drafts ago this year.  Steve Smith made that draft as a 3rd round gem. Jenkins got fat & lazy and Morgan couldn't stay healthy.

jenkins had back to back ACL tears and still came back as one of the best interior defensive linemen in the league.

jenkins left because he hated the way the coaching staff handled peppers.

Concussions aren’t predictable like most injuries. I think it’s a little premature to deem this particular move a mistake as he showed flashes when healthy.

concussions don't mean poo when you're consistently getting burnt in camp and when playing. guy is a waste and he wanted to trade back in the first. Dude will end up just like Otah.

When people on here are like yeah we'll build through the draft and somehow get seven immediate impact starters you're senile. You can't build through a draft with hurney. he'll take the best and safest pick at a position in the first round that isn't dire for other teams. We got Luke b/c no one else needed a linebacker. We got Cam b/c we were first and he was the best available. Gamble was overrated. Gross was above average but consistently would false start. He wasn't that great later in his career. Davis was a safety that we converted to LB b/c he couldn't cover worth a poo. Beason didn't last, hence we got Luke. Peppers was a given but we would have taken Carr if he was on the board. DWill and Stewart were worth it for the time they were here. CMC was a gift as running backs weren't going to be taken that high outside of Fournette. Jury is still out on Moore.

Hurney is absolute garbage at his job, don't expect to build through the draft.

Jenkins didn’t get fat & lazy. He went to the Jets and had another pro bowl season.
